  • Publication number: 20030047009
Abstract: Described is a calliper for measuring a size of an object and a force applied to the object to measure the size wherein the calliper comprises a scale support (2) comprising a fixed measuring finger (14). A movable mount (1) is slidably attached to the scale support wherein the movable mount comprises a second measuring finger (16) wherein the size is a distance between the fixed measuring finger and the second measuring finger when the fixed measuring finger and the second measuring finger contact the object. A detector (25), attached to the movable mount is capable of determining the distance between the second measuring finger and the fixed measuring finger. A force arm (10) is slidably attached to the movable mount and a sensor (11) attached to both the force arm and the movable mount such that the sensor detects a force applied to the force arm.

  • Patent number: 6398619
Abstract: A party streamer dispenser for decorating a room. The dispenser includes a body which holds a roll of crepe paper, a roll of adhesive tape, and an adjustable handle that selectively attaches to an elongated pole. The body comprises a cap and a frame that are disposed and compressed against opposite sides of the roll of crepe paper. A threaded bolt extends transversely between the cap and frame and through the center bore on the roll of crepe paper. Integrally formed on the frame is a laterally extending neck around which a roll of adhesive tape is placed. Extending laterally from the distal end of the neck is an extension. During assembly, an end cap is pivotally attached to the lateral extension. An elongated pole may be placed into the end cap so that the user may use the elongated pole to elevate the dispenser to a desired elevated location in the room.

  • Patent number: 5971847
Abstract: The present invention is a heating and cooling airway vent (12) that provides improved airflow directional control and is easier to manufacture, assemble, and install in building airway systems. The airway vent (12) includes a housing (14) having a number of fixed louvers (16) as well as a plurality of rotatable circular openings (18) in which circular inserts (20) are rotatably mounted. The circular inserts include curved louvers (22) that are angled with respect to the vertical and that are curved slightly outward. The circular inserts (20) can be rotated to direct their louvers (22), and hence the issuing air, in any desired direction. The circular inserts (20) are snap-locked into the housings (14). The vent (12) includes one or more dampers (26) operated by a damper switch (28). The damper switch (28) is connected to the housing using a guide slot (46) having ridges (48) that aid a user in keeping the damper switch (28) in a particular position.

  • Patent number: 5802661
Abstract: A wiper blade assembly (10) is provided including a housing (12), two blades (14), (16), two blade support structures (18), (20), and a switching mechanism (22). The housing (12) includes a shell (26) having two longitudinal channels (28), (28'). The housing (12) further includes a lower opening (36) and a bottom plate (38) sized to cover the lower opening. The bottom plate (38) is releasably connected to the shell (26) and includes two slots (40). An inner seal (46) attaches to an interior surface of the bottom plate and includes slots (48) that align with the bottom plate slots (40). The blades (14), (16) and blade support structures (18), (20) are positioned within the housing channels and are aligned with the bottom plate slots. Each support structure includes a middle portion having a transverse central hole (54). The switching mechanism (22) includes a shaft (62) and first and second cams (70), (72) attached to the shaft.
