  • Patent number: 8068952
Abstract: An interworking module and method are described herein which allows information to be exchanged between a user terminal (e.g., mobile phone) and a communication bus which is installed within a vehicle. The communication bus is connected to different components (e.g., engine sensors, on-board diagnostic systems, video-audio equipment, heating-cooling equipment, stereo system, and seats) which are installed within the vehicle.

Date of Patent: November 29, 2011
Assignee: Telefonaktiebolaget L M Ericsson (Publ)
Inventors: Eric Lee Valentine, Walter Lee Davidson
  • Patent number: 8010038
Abstract: A method and system of disabling a remote improvised explosive device (IED) that is triggered by a cell phone. A portable wideband network system, installed in a vehicle, is used to determine operator frequency or frequencies active on a route along which the vehicle will travel. The vehicle includes a wideband transmitter for raising a radio frequency noise floor across all of the active cellular frequencies in a limited area surrounding the portable wideband network system during passage along the route. A notch filter is used by the system for filtering a particular frequency from the noise floor. The power level of the portable wideband network system is increased so that the strongest signal at the particular frequency in the limited area is provided by the portable system's base station. All mobile terminals in the limited area around the vehicle are connected to the portable system and the portable system prevents call completion of any of the connected mobile terminals.

  • Patent number: 6600740
Abstract: A communication network having multiple codecs communicating voice calls between an originating network and a terminating network. The communication network includes an originating codec and a terminating codec. The network provides signaling indicating the decoding algorithm to the originating network, and indicating the encoding algorithm to the terminating network. The original encoding algorithms and the original decoding algorithms are then altered from the standard as a function of this signaling to produce a best fit encoding matching to improve voice quality.

  • Patent number: 6510171
Abstract: A system and method for transmitting a signal from a telephone terminal to a central office. The telephone terminal and central office are connected to aggregation points. The aggregation points include wire hoppers which receive the signals from the telephone terminal and the central office, spread the signals over a plurality of communication channels and transmit the signals over a common multilink transmission medium. When the signals are received at the central office, they are accordingly reassembled.

  • Patent number: 6356547
Abstract: A software definable DLC architecture (75) based on high speed analog-to-digital converters (64) and digital signal processors (66) capable of sampling to at least several MHz. Multiple copper pair wires (102) are attached to a single DSP (66) and upbanding is applied at staggered intervals so that all copper pairs reside in distinct spectral bands. Signals arriving from a single copper pair is sampled and digitized within the spectral band associated with each subscriber side service. The encoded digitized result is transmitted back to the central office (35) for decoding into the relevant signaling scheme according to the type of service attached to the subscriber (15).

  • Patent number: 6327267
Abstract: A datagram is received from a packet-switched network at a first network node; the first network node may be a node of the packet-switched network or a node of a signaling network associated with a Public Switched Telephone Network (PSTN). The datagram includes a destination address of a destination node of the signaling network; the destination address has an address format associated with the packet-switched network, such as that defined by the Internet Protocol. A message is constructed for transmission from the first network node to a node of the signaling network; the message includes an address field containing the destination address and a translation type field containing an indicator that the destination address has an address format associated with the packet-switched network.
