  • Publication number: 20090246431
Abstract: The present invention relates to the use of polypropylene containers for the packaging, storage and preservation of foods, with the containers having wall thicknesses of at least 0.4 mm and the polypropylene preferably being a transparent propylene homopolymer or propylene copolymer which has a haze value of ?40%, based on a layer thickness of the polypropylene of 1 mm and measured on injection-molded test specimens, and has a tensile modulus of elasticity of ?700 MPa, in the case of a homopolymer preferably ?1500 MPa, and a Charpy notched impact toughness at 0° C. of ?3 kJ/m2 and at a layer thickness of 100 ?m has an oxygen permeability of ?1000 cm/3/m2.d.bar, and, likewise at a layer thickness of 100 ?m, has a permeability to water vapor of ?1 g/m2. In addition, the invention relates to transparent polypropylene containers which can be closed so as to be airtight and watertight and are suitable for the preservation of foods.
