  • Patent number: 5303154
Abstract: The present invention features a method and circuit for ensuring substantially continuous, on-line communications for a vehicle that is directed to travel along one of a plurality of closed loop guide paths. The system includes a signal generator, and a first buffer operatively connected to the signal generator and to a first guide member defining one of the plurality of closed loop guide paths. The generator and first buffer provide a first reference signal at a predetermined frequency. A second buffer is operatively connected to the signal generator and to a second guide member defining a second guide path. The second buffer provides a second signal at the predetermined frequency. Connected to the second buffer is a mechanism for shifting or time delaying the second signal relative to the first reference signal, as a periodic function of time.

  • Patent number: 5163001
Abstract: An AGV for transporting material between at least two pickup and delivery stands. The AGV has a chassis for carrying objects. A computer processor is supported by the chassis for controlling and monitoring AGV operation. An interactive display is connected to the computer processor and mounted on the chassis for displaying status, current assignment and diagnostic information relating to AGV operation.

  • Patent number: 5075853
Abstract: In accordance with the present invention, there is provided an automatic guided vehicle (AGV) with a movable chassis and information processor mounted on the chassis for controlling AGV operation. A data storage mechanism in the form of a replaceable PROM is connected to the information processor for storing data representative of AGV operating instructions, such as safety procedure instructions, a facilities map, traffic control instructions, load handling instructions, diagnostic procedure instructions, speed control instructions and the like.

  • Patent number: 4987540
Abstract: A system for allowing an automatic guided vehicle (AGV) to move from a first guided area to a second guided area across an unguided span that separates them. A first guidance structure such as a buried cable is displaced from a second guidance structure. A communications and traffic controller is connected to each of the first and second guidance structures. Also connected to the communications and traffic controller is a transponder for signalling when an AGV is leaving the first guided area.
