  • Patent number: 10060957
Abstract: A system includes a plurality of power quality devices for continuously measuring and buffering power quality data and transmitting the buffered power quality data on a periodic basis and one or more cloud-based servers communicatively coupled to the plurality of power quality devices. The one or more cloud-based servers are operable to: receive the buffered data transmitted by the power quality devices; decompress and store the buffered data in a database; and display on a web page one or more of a stripchart, daily profile, histogram, waveform, vector diagram, harmonic bar chart, and 3D harmonic graph generated using the stored data. The system also includes one or more computing devices communicatively coupled to the plurality of power quality devices and the one or more cloud-based servers.

  • Patent number: 6360177
Abstract: A portable unit, preferably adapted for plugging into a common wall outlet, has circuitry for monitoring the voltage and/or current provided through an electrical outlet. In addition to the monitoring circuitry, the unit preferably includes a microprocessor for digitally processing the power waveform as well as analytical quantities related to the waveform. Further, the unit preferably has a storage area for storing samples of the input waveform as well as a log of related analytical quantities for downloading to a computer, local area network, or other destination, for collection and analysis. Preferably, the unit is provided with a local visual display and an alarm indicator.

  • Patent number: 6278357
Abstract: An apparatus to establish bi-directional digital communication over a power line network includes a signal launching circuit to impose a digital communication signal onto a power signal carried by a power line network and thereby form a digital communication power signal at a first point in the power line network. The signal launching circuit is configured to position a pulse of the digital communication signal at any phase location of each half cycle of the power signal. A receiver reads the digital communication power signal at a second point in the power line network. A signal processor is connected to the receiver to recover the digital communication signal from the digital communication power signal.

  • Patent number: 4767335
Abstract: An academic quiz controller system includes first and second pluralities of identical and interchangeable response stations (11, 12, 13, 14 and 21, 22, 23, 24) each provided with a switch (17) and an indicator light (16) activated by the switch when pressed by a contestant. The first and second pluralities of response stations are serially connected by means of three pair telephone wire (10 and 20) and modular telephone jacks to form first and second strings of response stations. A microprocessor-controlled master console (30) has a plurality of indicators (33 and 34), one for each response station, a start switch (36) and a mode switch (37). The first and second strings of response stations are connected to the master console by means of three pair telephone wire (15 and 25) and modular telephone jacks as is a judge's switch pad (40) which is used for inputting an indication as to whether an answer is right or wrong.

  • Patent number: 4685065
Abstract: A portable spectrum analyzer using frequency synthesis is used in the field to perform voltage amplitude measurements of specified channel segments in a multichannel configured coaxial cable environment. The instrument is a microprocessor (28) based system, and includes an RF input (1) and keyboard (36) and function switch inputs and provides both aural and visual outputs by means of a speaker and an LCD display (27). A three stage frequency converter (7) including PLLs (11, 12 and 13) controlled by the microprocessor (28) allows for the automatic monitoring of a plurality of carrier channels or the display of both video and audio levels of a single channel. Automatic adjustment of the input signal level is provided by attenuator pads (2 and 3) controlled by the microprocessor (28). Calibration is also automatically controlled by the periodic injection of a signal of predetermined level from a noise source (4) under the control of the microprocessor (28).
