  • Patent number: 7379736
Abstract: The invention relates to methods and systems for selectively controlling network selection in an area covered by at least two mobile communication networks. According to the first method, the area which is to be covered is divided up into zones and a specific code is allocated to each individual zone. Said codes are stored in a storage system and the network is selected on the basis thereof. Alternately, a correlation is made between information on a subscriber identification module (SIM) and signals from a cell broadcast channel which is used to select the network.

  • Patent number: 7203836
Abstract: A method for mutual authentication of components in a network using a challenge-response method, including the steps of requesting at least one data pair including a first random number and a first response from an authentication center, passing the first random number to a terminal which uses an internally stored key and the first random number to calculate the first response, sending the calculated first response to the network, sending a second random number from the terminal to the network, and responding to the second random number with a second response calculated in the authentication center. The first response sent from the terminal to the network is also used as the second random number, and the network has previously requested the second response from the authorization center together with the first random number and the first response as a triplet data set.

  • Patent number: 6993320
Abstract: The invention relates to a method and a device for accessing a telecommunication network and for billing telecommunication services, whereby there are presented new processes, as compared to those of classical mechanisms of network providers, services are offered to their customers and fees are charged for providing the same. In this context the invention primarily concerns novel access mechanisms and access media to a telecommunications network, modified security mechanisms as well as innovative counting methods. The invention is characterized in that authentication methods are used in the telecommunication network, which permit a subscriber to certify at any one freely choosable point in time that a payment for a service which has been solicited or which is to be solicited, is provided or has already been provided.

  • Patent number: 6741852
Abstract: A method and device is able to authenticate a subscriber of a digital mobile radiotelephone system vis-à-vis an authentication entity, wherein the subscriber firstly initializes vis-à-vis the authentication entity by executing several times the authentication algorithm containing stored subscriber-specific components and by storing the corresponding response parameters of the subscriber-specific components in a non-volatile memory. Systematic authentication of the subscriber of the mobile radiotelephone system vis-à-vis the authentication entity via a common interface is made possible by the authentication parameters stored in the memory since the authentication entity can always refer back to the response parameters of the individual subscriber module it already knows.

  • Publication number: 20020141525
Abstract: A testing unit (10) for testing a device under test—DUT—(30) comprises a signal generator (20) for applying a stimulus signal to the DUT (30), a receiving unit (50) for receiving a response signal from the DUT on the applied stimulus signal, and a synchronizing unit (40) for synchronizing a data flow of the response signal between the DUT (30) and the receiving unit (50). The synchronizing unit (40) receives a first clock signal (DUT-CLK) from the DUT (30) and a second clock signal (CLK) of the testing unit (10). The synchronizing unit (40) comprises a buffer (70) for buffering data, a write unit (80) for writing data from the DUT (30) into the buffer (70), and a read unit (90) for reading out data from the buffer (70) to be provided to the receiving unit (50). A write access onto the buffer (70) is controlled by the first clock signal (DUT-CLK), while a read access onto the buffer (70) is controlled by the second clock signal (CLK).

  • Patent number: 4079315
Abstract: The time interval between two consecutive pulse signals, as occurring for instance in nondestructive ultrasonic pulse-echo testing, is measured by measuring with a counting frequency the width of the interval start pulse signal and the width of the interval stop pulse signal at respective base lines, and the time interval between both stated signals. Using either two different counting frequencies having a ratio of two to one, or utilizing summing and dividing means the time interval between the start and the stop pulse signals is determined with negligible error.

  • Patent number: 4015152
Abstract: An impact mechanism for piezoelectric transducers, particularly intended for lighters, is described. It consists of an outer housing of plastic material, at the bottom of which the piezoelectric crystal assembly is secured. Slidably arranged within this housing is a support member which contains the impact elements, namely, a permanent magnet, an actuating spring, and a ferromagnetic hammer in magnetically-locked relationship. Slots in opposite sides of the frame member permit a pin to pass through a bore in the magnet and also through the outer housing to which the pin is secured. The frame member, being closed on top, also houses a return spring. The sliding movement of the frame member within the housing compresses the actuating spring and forces separation of the hammer to strike the piezoelectric transducer.
