Abstract: Filamentary members, music strings for example, are automatically coiled and the coils captured on a sheet of packaging material by feeding the members into an annular groove against a surface of a sheet of heat sealable material and subsequently shearing tabs from the sheet of material and folding the tabs over the coiled member. Coiling of the members is accomplished by feeding a first end of each member, preferably with the aid of pneumatic pressure, into the annular groove, capturing the end in the groove and thereafter causing relative rotation between the groove and member to draw the member into the groove.
