Patent number: 7775754Abstract: A nut having an injection-molded insert or delay stopper is threaded onto an end of an anchor. A capsule containing a resin component and a catalyst component and the other end of the anchor are positioned in a bore hole in a mine roof, mine wall, side of a hill, concrete wall, or concrete floor. The threaded end of the nut contacts the insert and rotation of the nut rotates the anchor, breaking the capsule and mixing the components. After the components set, increased torque is applied to fracture the insert and move the nut up the threaded end of the shaft against roof stabilizing components on the shaft.Type: GrantFiled: February 16, 2006Date of Patent: August 17, 2010Assignee: FCI Holdings Delaware, Inc.Inventors: Karl Anthony Calandra, John G. Oldsen, Walter John Simmons, Walter Neal Simmons

Patent number: 7681377Abstract: A process for producing partitioned packages by which a first film is formed into an elongated inner tube and a second film is formed into an elongated outer tube surrounding the inner tube. Reactive components are filled into the inner and outer tubes as the tubes are formed to maintain the reactive components separate from each other. Only the outer tube is actively engaged to advance the tube longitudinally. Frictional forces from the advancing outer tube are applied to the component within the outer tube and, in turn, are applied to the inner tube thereby advancing the inner tube at a rate substantially the same as the outer tube.Type: GrantFiled: June 22, 2006Date of Patent: March 23, 2010Assignee: J-Lok Co.Inventors: Walter John Simmons, Walter Neal Simmons, John G. Oldsen

Publication number: 20080307937Abstract: A method of producing packages of flowable materials may include: passing a plurality of coupled packages through a cutter having a blade with dual cutting edges; and severing adjacent packages in a region proximate ends thereof by a single stroke of the blade so that only one edge of the blade contacts the region. In addition, a cutter may include a housing that is substantially symmetrical about a longitudinal axis thereof, the housing defining an opening having opposing first and second sections each with an arcuate region proximate a tapered region, the opening further comprising a central region disposed between the first and second sections. The cutter may include a blade with dual cutting edges, the blade disposed proximate the central region of the housing.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 16, 2008Publication date: December 18, 2008Inventors: Walter Neal Simmons, Walter John Simmons

Publication number: 20080260551Abstract: A rolling diaphragm pump includes a housing, a rolling seal diaphragm disposed in the housing, a piston for driving the diaphragm, and a valve for regulating the flow of working fluid in a portion of the housing. A constant differential pressure is maintained across the diaphragm independent of discharge pressure of the pump. A method of pumping a viscous medium includes pumping the viscous medium by maintaining a constant differential pressure across a rolling seal diaphragm independent of discharge pressure of the viscous medium, with the diaphragm disposed between the viscous medium and a working medium and being driven by a piston.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 26, 2008Publication date: October 23, 2008Inventor: Walter Neal Simmons

Patent number: 7351756Abstract: A composite material is disclosed having a matrix formed of polyethylene terephthalate and cement particles distributed in the matrix. The cement particles may be Portland cement. About 50 wt % or less of the composite material is cement particles. The cement particles have an average particle size of no more than about 100 ?m.Type: GrantFiled: June 16, 2006Date of Patent: April 1, 2008Assignee: Terrasimco Inc.Inventors: Walter John Simmons, Walter Neal Simmons

Patent number: 7297371Abstract: The invention is related to a coating delivery system that includes at least one pressure vessel operable in sealed and unsealed conditions, a deliverable substance including a coating component interspersed with at least one of liquefied carbon dioxide and supercritical carbon dioxide, and a pressurizing fluid. The deliverable substance is disposed in a first pressure vessel of the at least one pressure vessel, and the pressurizing fluid directly exerts a pressure on the deliverable substance to effect transport thereof when the pressure vessel is in the unsealed condition. The deliverable substance may be spray discharged.Type: GrantFiled: October 7, 2004Date of Patent: November 20, 2007Assignee: Terrasimco Inc.Inventors: Walter Neal Simmons, Walter John Simmons

Patent number: 7200203Abstract: Devices and related methods are provided for irradiating a portion of a body. A device according to one embodiment can include a radiation needle, a fluorescent target, and an x-ray transmitting window. The radiation needle can include a radiation conduit having a first and second end for passing primary x-rays. An x-ray generator can generate the primary x-rays and pass the primary x-rays from the first end to second end. The fluorescent target can connect to the second end for absorbing the primary x-rays and produce by fluorescence secondary x-rays for irradiating a predetermined portion of the body. The fluorescent target having a surface for absorbing the primary x-rays to fluoresce and emit said secondary x-rays. The x-ray transmitting window can be positioned adjacent to the fluorescent target such that the secondary x-rays exit through the x-ray transmitting window. The secondary x-rays can irradiate target tissue within the body.Type: GrantFiled: April 6, 2004Date of Patent: April 3, 2007Assignee: Duke UniversityInventors: Franklin H. Cocks, Walter Neal Simmons, Paul A. Klenk
