  • Patent number: 4425287
Abstract: A process for the production of moldings from unsaturated polyester resins wherein a mixture is first prepared from1. an unsaturated polyester,2. a copolymerizable vinyl compound,3. an inhibitor,4. a photoinitiator,5. a thickener, preferably MgO,6. a pulverulent auxiliary which transmits ultraviolet light and/or7. a fibrous reinforcing material and8. further conventional additives. This mixture is thickened, where appropriate after coating onto a sheet-like carrier, to form a semi-finished product, which is then finally shaped, and cured by UV irradiation after which it may or may not be heat-treated.

  • Patent number: 4265723
Abstract: Photocurable molding, impregnating and coating compositions based on unsaturated polyester resins containing UV sensitizers, wherein the sensitizers are acylphosphine oxide compounds of the general formula ##STR1## A preferred sensitizer is 2,4,6-trimethylbenzoyldiphenylphosphine oxide which is employed with or without conventional UV sensitizers, preferably benzil-dimethylketal. The compositions can be cured to give moldings and coatings.
