Abstract: A liquid crystal display arrangement for a motor vehicle includes a plurality of light emitting diodes positioned to backlight a liquid crystal display. A plurality of electrical conductors are each electrically connected to, and provide electrical power to, a different respective subset of the light emitting diodes. An electronic controller is electrically coupled to each of the conductors and individually controls conduction of electricity through each of the conductors to thereby change a brightness of at least one of the subsets of the light emitting diodes relative to a brightness of at least one other subset of the light emitting diodes during operation of the motor vehicle.

Abstract: A head up display arrangement for a motor vehicle includes an image source providing images. Optics are then positioned to provide a reflection of the images such that the virtual images are perceived by a driver of the vehicle to be aligned with a road that is visible through a windshield of the vehicle. A force-detecting device detects a magnitude of a force exerted on the driver in a lateral direction from turning of the vehicle. An electronic processor adjusts, based on the magnitude of the force exerted on the driver, the virtual images and/or a position of the HUD Optics.

Abstract: In order to clean a screen in a waste water purification plant a surge of a body of water is generated by the agency of a dump flushing apparatus, which surge drops in a free fall towards the screen to be cleaned. This surge of cleaning water is given a dimensional extent which ensures for a substantially simultaneous impinging of the body of water onto the total extent of the screen. A framing which surrounds the screen encompasses this surge of water such as to guide the water and to force the water to flow through the screen. During the cleaning or flushing action the contaminants adhering to the screen, which contaminants are substantially of a thixotropic nature, will be removed from the screen and flushed through a sump towards the water purification section of the water purification plant.
