    Abstract: An assembly for generating an optical marking of the flight path of an air/space vehicle propelled by a power unit is associated with the power unit, and mixes the marking output of the generator with either the exhaust of the power unit or air streaming past the vehicle. The generator may generate smoke or steam. In the case of a smoke generator, the assembly may include an annular chamber surrounding a central passageway through which the power unit exhaust passes. The exhaust ignites a smoke-generating charge in the annular chamber, the smoke generated passing through bores in the annular chamber.

    Abstract: A smoke-generating combustion charge is disclosed having a nitrate-containing oxidizing agent combined with wetted carbon granules to cause polar binding of the oxidizing agent. Such a charge produces a non-toxic smoke, and is environment-compatible, even when the charge fails to ignite, or is combusted incompletely. The method of preparation for the smoke charge comprises the separate treatment of the oxidizing agent and the reducing agent, followed by common mixing and press-forming to produce pellets.

    Abstract: For generation of smoke screens for civilian and military applications, briquetted, combustible masses are used, which, by means of scattering charges, are spread in a buckshot-like manner. Smoke charges serve mostly toxic substances which, at least when failing to burn or when only partly burning, constitute an environmental hazard.According to the invention, there is provided a device consisting of nontoxic, hygroscopic smoke charges fully encapsulated in a moisture-impervious ignition layer. An ammunition body comprises smoke charges of differing sizes and geometries, and facilitates the ground-covering laying of smoke screens over large target areas.A preferred manufacturing method for the smoke charges and the ignition layer is described.

    Abstract: A miniaturized delay element was developed for use in medium-and large caliber weapon systems and is realized in a metallic cartridge made of a copper-free light metal. By including a metallic combustible, an oxidant consisting of a halogen-containing high polymer, and metallocenes as sensitizers, an extremely compact and reliable delay element can be produced. By including a detonating charge consisting of an initiating explosive and a metallocene as sensitizer, the delay element can be designed for initiation without darting flame, for striker pins, needles, etc.Due to its properties, the pyrotechnical delay element is particularly well suited for use in highly delayed charges and/or for daughter projectiles and/or for self-destruction of munitions. The delay times achieved can be experimentally and reproducibly determined between 1 and about 30 sec.
