  • Patent number: 4748358
Abstract: An electric machine, particularly for starting devices, is suggested. Permanent magnets (4 to 9) with assigned flux conducting pieces (10 to 15) are arranged in the housing (1) of the electric machine. The permanent magnets (4 to 9), together with the flux conducting pieces (10 to 15), are preassembled in two rings (18, 19) as retaining parts to form a constructional unit. Each ring (18, 19) has a cylindrical portion (20; 30) which contacts the end portions of the inner side (21; 22) of the permanent magnets (4 to 9) or the flux conducting pieces (10 to 15). A flangelike edge (25; 33) of the rings (18; 19) contacts the front sides (23, 24; 31, 32) of the permanent magnets (4 to 9) and the flux conducting pieces (10 to 15). Tabs (26, 27; 34, 35), which contact the end portions of the free longitudinal sides (17; 28 ) of the permanent magnets (4 to 9) or the flux conducting pieces (10 to 15), are bent out from the edges 25 and 33.

  • Patent number: 4561316
Abstract: To prevent transfer of firing or ignition shocks or jolts, and variations in torque transmitted due to compression and decompression of the driven pistons of an IC engine from causing damage to the starter motor, in which the starter motor includes a planetary gearing, (20-25-27), the annulus, or ring gear (20) of the planetary gearing is held in an intermediate bearing structure (10) extending transversely to the starter motor by elastic cushions, or pillows or plugs (18), fitted in recesses (17) of the intermediate bearing structure, and coupled to the annulus, or ring gear (20) by projecting stubs or pins (21) extending radially into openings (19) formed in the cushions or plugs.

  • Patent number: 4495825
Abstract: A starter for internal combustion engines is proposed in which a spur gear arrangement (16, 17) is inserted between a drive shaft 4 of a starter motor (1) and a gear shaft (20), on which gear shaft a meshing gear (39-42 and 29) having a starting pinion (31) is movably disposed. The internally geared wheel (17) of the gear arrangement is formed in one piece with a bearing sleeve (18) carrying a high-pitch (spiral spline) thread (19) and is located on the gear shaft (20). The coupling element (26) of the free wheel (29) is seated on the high-pitch thread (19), thus shortening the structural length. A cover cap (51) fitting around the internally geared wheel (17) is inserted between an intermediate (casing 8, 53) and a drive bell (10, 54) and seals off the gear arrangement (16, 17) in lubricant-tight manner with respect to the interior of the drive bell (10).

  • Patent number: 4445060
Abstract: The housing (2) retains six permanent magnets (3-8) which are curved and rest on the inner wall (9) of the housing (2). They are fixed and held in the circumferential position by holder parts (13; 14; 47) located by guide protrusions (11, 12) in the housing (2). The holder parts have yielding holder sections (15; 25; 49) with circumferentially extending axially springy flaps (21; 22; 29, 30) or bridge elements (48) to hold the permanent magnets (3-8) and yet permit compensation for tolerances while being resistant to vibratrion. For axial positioning, the holder parts have a spacer (23; 32) resting on the bearing cap (39).
