  • Patent number: 4108500
Abstract: The process and apparatus for effecting savings of compressed injection gs such as oxygen or nitrogen when injecting solids such as burnt lime pneumatically into a receiving vessel, such as the blow-line to steel melt has a solids conveying system, a compressed gas supply source and a conduit and valve system functioning in a sequence, by which the compressed gas upon termination of the procedure is collected and thereupon is recycled. The system is equipped with at least one pressure-reservoir to collect the compressed gas from the previous procedure for recycling it.The pressure reservoir is subdivided by a reciprocating divider such as a membrane or a reciprocating piston to subdivide it into two parts of variable volumes, the divider is pushed by the returning compressed saved gas from one wall of the reservoir to the other. Highly compressed gas is blown into the empty part of the reservoir to increase the pressure upon the returned gas.

  • Patent number: 4049247
Abstract: An equipment for the continuous, pneumatic introduction of finely divided materials, in particular coal dust, into several consumption sites, in particular into the tuyeres of blast-furnaces is characterized by combining systems partly known in such manner, that a plurality of double-story vessels is preceded by a distribution system comprising a supply bin with metering conveyor scale and distribution bin. A pressure-resistant bucket-wheel distributor is mounted underneath every pressure-vessel, the buckets of said distributor is multiply subdivided transversely to the axis, and a pressure-pan provided with conveyor-gas hook-up and subdivided into mini-chambers corresponding to the bucket-wheel distributor is mounted underneath each bucket-wheel distributor, the conveyor lines to the consumption sites being connected to the pressure-pan.

  • Patent number: 4033549
Abstract: A valve system for protection of the valve surface from abrasion and wear normally caused by the flow vertically therethrough of wear-causing materials, such as pulverized cement, sand, ashes, ground and stone dust, hydrated lime, zincoxide, zinc mixtures, aluminum oxide, perlite, sewage and other granulated or comminuted fluid materials in a dry or liquid state, often piped under considerable pressure differences, has an elongated vertical housing with a funnel on top, an annular seat with an orifice wider than that of the funnel beneath it, a bulbous valve for closing the seal from the side opposite of the funnel and protruding into the seat when closed, means of support of the valve pivotally attached to the valve and control means of the means of support, to swing the valve laterally in and out of sealing position with the seat.
