  • Patent number: 6196095
Abstract: A continuous paper web is severed transversely in between the transportation cycles at the paper's maximum allowable rate of feed. The transverse cutter device has a stationary bottom blade 6 and a driven upper blade 5 fixed to or integral with a permanent magnet 7a, and a linear motor is used as the drive for the upper blade. The motor stator 7c is fastened to a carrier 4, and the driven blade undergoes reciprocating or vibratory strokes within a stator slot.

  • Patent number: 5398919
Abstract: Paper sheets are fed in a first direction until the sheets abut a stop plate and fall downwardly to form a stack. A sensor detects a sign on a last sheet in a group and when that sheet falls on the stack, the entire group of sheets is transported away in a first direction generally perpendicular to the feed direction or a second direction opposite to the first direction. To aid in the transportation away, two pairs of drive rollers are mounted on either side of the transport which grasp the stack of sheets and transports them away from the stacking area.

  • Patent number: 5342038
Abstract: A stacking apparatus has lower and upper continuous, rotating elastic cords 10, 11, between which delivered sheets 2 are conveyed to a pair of transport rollers 3. The rollers 20, 21 of the pair have wedge-shaped recesses 26, 27 with stop shoulders 28, 29, which are in alignment when the rollers are in their normal or rest position. The sheets strike these shoulders and stack up into a bundle 55, which is transported away in response to a discharge signal by the synchronous rotation of the rollers through an integral number of revolutions. The apparatus enables an efficient gathering of sheets into a precisely aligned bundle, which facilitates further processing.

  • Patent number: 4593893
Abstract: A method of sequentially advancing, cutting and sorting forms attached together serially in two single-path form-webs in which the forms carry a code to identify forms to be assembled together by sorting, comprises the following consecutive steps: introducing the two webs in a superposed state and with an at least partial lateral overlap to a cutting table such that a perforated margin on each web is situated along opposite external edges when viewing the two superposed webs together; engaging each web solely at the outer perforated margin by a tractor device on the cutting table and advancing each web on the cutting table by a perforated margin solely along one longitudinal web edge; transversely severing the forms from the web by a transverse cutter of the cutting table; and sorting and assembling the forms as a function of the code thereon.

  • Patent number: 4533130
Abstract: An apparatus for folding a running web has a deflecting roller supporting the running web; a scoring device for providing a weakening score line in the running web parallel to the running direction thereof for dividing the web into side-by-side arranged first and second web portions; and a folding roller supporting the running web and situated spaced from and downstream of the deflecting roller as viewed in the direction of web advance. The folding roller has a longitudinal axis oriented at least approximately at right angles to the longitudinal axis of the deflecting roller, whereby the running web undergoes an approximately 90.degree. twist and the first web portion of the running web folds over the second web portion along the score line as the running web passes from the deflecting roller onto the folding roller.
