Patent number: 11945544Abstract: A control device includes a housing having a base portion and an extension portion. The base portion of the housing has an inward facing side and an outward facing side. The control device includes a lever coupled to and pivotable relative to the housing, and a master cylinder portion supported by the housing. The master cylinder portion has a hollow fluid cylinder. The control device also includes a piston assembly supported by the housing. The piston assembly is movable relative to the master cylinder portion. At least part of the piston assembly is disposed within the master cylinder portion. The master cylinder portion is angled relative to the outward facing side of the base portion of the housing, such that the first end of the fluid cylinder is closer to the outward facing side than the second end of the fluid cylinder is relative to the outward facing side.Type: GrantFiled: February 17, 2022Date of Patent: April 2, 2024Assignee: SRAM, LLCInventors: Patrick Gruse, Rebecca Greetis, Nathan Luman, Douglas Mahoney, Walter May, Neil Swanson

Patent number: 7880573Abstract: A method for reducing a temperature rise of a magnetic material is provided. The method includes applying force to the magnetic material to reduce a dimensional change of the magnetic material during a first part of an operation cycle, such as due to magnetostriction. The force is removed from the magnetic material during a second part of an operation cycle, allowing magnetostrictive dimensional changes to occur.Type: GrantFiled: July 2, 2008Date of Patent: February 1, 2011Assignee: iGo, Inc.Inventors: Bryan Wayne McCoy, Jason Walter Swanson

Publication number: 20090237889Abstract: A power converter including a printed circuit board (PCB) having a plurality of heat conductive layers configured to sink heat generated by the power converter electronics. Each of these heat conductive layers are comprised of thermally conductive material configured as planar sheets, each of these heat conductive layers being coupled to at least one wire to sink heat therefrom, such as via a wire of an input cable and/or output cable. Advantageously, a more compact power converter is realized having improved power output while operating within safety guidelines.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 25, 2009Publication date: September 24, 2009Applicant: IGO, INC.Inventors: Jason Walter Swanson, Bryan Wayne McCoy, Arthur Kenneth Dewyer

Publication number: 20080085197Abstract: A magnetostriction based pump for cooling a power supply is provided. One exemplary embodiment of the invention utilizes one of the components that is already present in the power supply. The expense of the cooling system is minimized, as it is limited to a diaphragm and any channel routing. The airflow can be targeted at multiple devices by adding additional cooling channels or channeling the flow of air over multiple components.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 9, 2006Publication date: April 10, 2008Inventors: Bryan Wayne McCoy, Jason Walter Swanson

Patent number: 5806319Abstract: A method and apparatus for depositing parylene monomer within the interior of a deposition chamber of a parylene deposition system. In certain embodiments, the method comprises the steps of: (a) introducing a cryogenic fluid into the interior of the deposition chamber to cool the surface of the substrate; and (b) introducing the parylene monomer into the interior of the chamber to deposit the parylene monomer onto the surface of the substrate. In some embodiments, the apparatus comprises: a deposition chamber; a pumping system, a source of cryogenic fluid, a gas source and at least one support mount disposed within the interior of the deposition chamber. The pumping system reduces the pressure of the interior of the deposition chamber, and the pumping system is in fluid communication with the interior of the deposition chamber. The source of cryogenic fluid is in fluid communication with the interior of the deposition chamber.Type: GrantFiled: March 13, 1997Date of Patent: September 15, 1998Inventors: John Wary, Roger A.
