A double twist bow arrangement is provided which includes second drive for twisting the closed wires at a second rotational speed to form a twinned cable.

    Abstract: A method of providing a service, to a plurality of terminals on a communication network, through a server on the communication network includes the following steps: 1) coupling a correlator to the network which links a unique name for the server to multiple network addresses; 2) providing a set of multiple computers on the network, each of which performs the service and is assigned a different one of the multiple network addresses; and, 3) incorporating a network address selector on the network which directs any one of the terminals to a single one of the computers, when an operator of that one terminal generates a request for the service which includes the unique name of the server. Due to this method, the server has a virtual single network address which means that from the point of view of an operator of a terminal, the service is being provided by a single computer on the network that has a single network address that corresponds to the server's unique name.

Each twisting unit rotated at slightly different speeds to assure different lay lengths for each twisted pair. The twisted pairs are guided downstream by a capstan and all of the twisted and taped wire sets are secured to each other by a pre-twisting and taping operation before the composite cable is wound onto a rotating take-up unit.

Guides are provided within the double twist machine for simultaneously guiding all of the wires and imparting two twists to the entire set as the wires proceed through the double twist machine to thereby produce a set of wires twisted about each other which are all simultaneously taken off a single bobbin or reel. The number of wires on each reel and the number of bobbins mounted within the machine may be varied to produce telephone cable twins, triplets, quads and the like. A take-up used in conjunction with a bank of such machines can produce a wide variety of telephone cables.

    Abstract: Single and multi-wire drawing apparatus and method are described. A first wire drawing section includes two pairs of cone drawing blocks and two tandem drawing blocks. A second wire drawing section includes a number of tandem drawing blocks, four in the described embodiment, and a final capstan drawing block. the final tandem drawing block of the first wire drawing section is arranged on the second wire drawing section. All of the drawing blocks of the first wire drawing section are driven by a single drive, while the tandem and the final capstan drawing blocks on the second wire drawing section are actuated by a second drive. The dies associated with each tandem drawing block of the second section are movable so that a number of different wire sizes can be produced by appropriately moving the dies and adjusting the speed of the first drive to provide a desired wire speed entering into the second wire drawing section.
