Abstract: The invention relates to the use in pest control of thioxanthen-9-ylidenepiperidines of formula I ##STR1## wherein R.sub.1 is hydrogen, C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 alkyl, C.sub.3 -C.sub.5 alkenyl, C.sub.3 -C.sub.5 alkynyl, cyano or --COR.sub.4,R.sub.2 and R.sub.3 independently of each other are hydrogen, halogen, C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 alkyl, C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 alkoxy, C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 haloalkyl or nitro,R.sub.4 is ##STR2## C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 alkyl, C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 alkoxy-C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 alkyl, C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 haloalkyl, C.sub.3 -C.sub.6 cycloalkyl, ##STR3## or C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 alkoxycarbonyl, R.sub.5 and R.sub.6 independently of each other are hydrogen, C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 alkyl or C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 alkoxy andR.sub.7 and R.sub.8 independently of each other are hydrogen, halogen, C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 alkyl, C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 alkoxy or nitro, and of the salts thereof and to compositions containing compounds of formula I as active ingredient.

Abstract: Substituted phenylhydrazonopyrrolidine derivatives of the formula ##STR1## wherein R is halogen or C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 -alkyl,n is zero, 1 or 2, andR* is the group --CH.dbd.N--R.sub.1 or ##STR2## in which R.sub.1 is a pyridine group which is bound by way of a carbon atom, and which is unsubstituted or substituted by a methyl group, or is a 2-thiazolyl group, andR.sub.2 is methyl or ethyl,R.sub.3 is C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 -alkyl, C.sub.1 -C.sub.2 -alkoxy or C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 -alkylthio, andX is oxygen or sulfur,have valuable properties for controlling pests, such as phytoparasitic and zooparasitic insects and acarids, including in particular ectoparasites.

Abstract: Compounds of the formula ##STR1## and of the isomeric formulae ##STR2## wherein R is alkyl or halogen, R.sub.1 is hydrogen, optionally substituted alkyl or optionally substituted alkenyl, R.sub.2 is hydrogen or methyl, R.sub.3 is hydrogen, alkyl or alkenyl, and X is oxygen or sulfur, including their acid salts, are insecticidally and acaricidally active.

Abstract: Compounds of the formula ##STR1## wherein R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 independently of one another are each a chlorine atom or the methyl group, Y is the group ##STR2## or --CH.dbd.N--R.sub.5, in which R.sub.3 is methyl or ethyl, R.sub.4 is alkyl having 1 to 4 carbon atoms, alkoxy having 1 or 2 carbon atoms, alkylthio having 1 to 4 carbon atoms, or phenyl, X is an oxygen atom or a sulfur atom, and R.sub.5 is an unsubstituted or substituted pyridinyl group which is linked by way of one of its carbon atoms, to the main part of the molecule, and which has substituents selected from the group comprising halogen and alkyl having 1 to 4 carbon atoms, including the acid addition salts thereof, processes for producing the novel compounds by reaction of 2-(anilinomethyl)-2-imidazoline derivatives either with (thio)phosphoric acid dialkyl ester halides or alkyl(thio) phosphonic acid alkyl ester halides, or with N-pyridinylformiminoalkoxy derivatives.

Abstract: Novel 2-(phenoxy-.alpha.-alkyl)-imidazolines of the formula ##STR1## wherein R.sub.1 and R.sub.2, each independently of the other, are methyl or chlorine, or together they are --(CH.sub.2).sub.3 or --(CH.sub.2).sub.4 group and R.sub.3 is ethyl, n-propyl or isopropyl, processes for obtaining these compounds and compositions containing them for the control of plant-damaging mites and mites which are parasites of animals.

Abstract: Compositions containing active substances of the formula ##STR1## wherein R.sub.1 and R.sub.2, each independently of the other, represent hydrogen or alkyl of 1 to 10 carbon atoms, R.sub.3 and R.sub.4, each independently of the other, represent alkyl of 1 to 5 carbon atoms or halogen, preferably chlorine, and R.sub.5 represents hydrogen, alkyl of 1 to 5 carbon atoms or halogen, or an acid addition salt thereof for combating ectoparasites.

Abstract: Compounds of the formula I ##STR1## wherein R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 are each chlorine or methyl, R.sub.3 is hydrogen or C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 -alkyl and R.sub.4 is C.sub.1 -C.sub.6 -alkyl optionally substituted by cyano or phenyl optionally substituted by halogen and/or methyl are novel and are pesticidally in particular acaricidally active.

Abstract: Compounds of the formula I ##STR1## wherein R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 are each chlorine or methyl, R.sub.3 is hydrogen or C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 -alkyl and R.sub.4 is cyano or a group of the formula A or B. ##STR2## and their acid addition salts possess useful pesticidal in particular acaricidal properties.

Abstract: Compounds of the formula I ##STR1## wherein R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 are each methyl or chlorine, R.sub.3 is hydrogen or C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 -alkyl, R.sub.4 is methyl or ethyl, R.sub.5 is methoxy, ethoxy, C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 -alkylthio or phenyl and X is oxygen or sulphur have valuable pesticidal in particular acaricidal properties.

Abstract: A process for the production of 3-hydroxy-5-chloropyridine and 3-hydroxy-5-bromopyridine is disclosed which process comprises reacting 2-furfurylamine in aqueous mineral-acid solution at -20.degree. to +5.degree. C. with chlorine or bromine, neutralizing the hydrohalic acid formed, heating the reaction mixture at reflux temperature, and isolating the formed 3-hydroxy-5-halopyridine. The 3-hydroxy-5-halopyridines obtained are intermediates for the production of insecticides.

Abstract: Novel acaricidally effective thiazoline compounds corresponding to the general formula ##STR1## wherein R.sub.1 and R.sub.2, independently of one another, represent chlorine, methyl or ethyl, whereby R.sub.2 can occupy the 4- or 6-position, with the exception that if R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 represent chlorine, R.sub.2 cannot be in the 4-position, R.sub.3 represents a straight-chain or branched-chain alkyl group having 1 to 4 carbon atoms, optionally substituted by alkoxy having 1-2 carbon atoms, or a straight-chain or branched-chain alkenyl group having 3 to 5 carbon atoms, optionally substituted by halogen including the acid addition salts, particularly the hydrochlorides, and compositions containing these compounds, as well as the use of these compounds for combatting mites, particularly ticks.
