  • Patent number: 4215385
Abstract: In a regenerable electric capacitor, particularly for a.c. voltage applications, the metal coatings consist of an alloy of aluminum and a metal whose oxides possess a specific resistance .rho.<10.sup.9 .OMEGA.cm. Alloy metals are preferably copper or zinc, and maganese, tin, silver, chromium, iron or lead are also suitable. With the alloy of the invention, the coating decomposition is prevented by the increased edge field strengths.

    Assignee: Siemens Aktiengesellschaft
Inventors: Reinhard Behn, Gerhard Hoyler, Walter Voelkl
  • Patent number: 4142222
Abstract: A capacitor for AC voltage applications consists of staggered wound layers of synthetic material films metallized on both sides. The metallizations are carried out on the two sides of the films with differing thicknesses, wherein at least the greater thickness metallization is contacted by means of Schoop layers. The exposed edges on the two sides of the films are provided with different widths, wherein the difference corresponds with a staggering of the films during winding.

  • Patent number: 4019101
Abstract: An electrical capacitor in which metallized foils are loosely disposed one on top of the other and in which the dielectric layer is formed of materials which have desirable electrical properties but which are not particularly adapted to regeneration having a metallized surface which is insulated against the moisture by a liquid insulating oil. The insulating oil layer may consist of polyisobutylene or a silicone oil. A solvent is used to apply the oil and the solvent is given the opportunity to evaporate after the application.
