  • Patent number: 8720262
Abstract: In a method or a test device for testing a speed limiting system of an elevator installation, in which speed limiting system in normal operation on occurrence of an impermissible movement state of an elevator cage a cage brake device is activated in that a limiter traction means connected with a trigger mechanism of the cage brake device is braked by a speed limiter, whereby the trigger mechanism of the cage brake device is actuated against a trigger resistance force, the limiter traction means is, when the test is performed, operatively connected with the trigger mechanism by way of a test device, wherein the test device has the effect that for overcoming the trigger resistance force of the trigger mechanism a greater traction force is required in the limiter traction means than when the limiter traction means is directly connected with the trigger mechanism.

  • Patent number: 7905328
Abstract: A brake device of an elevator car with a brake unit that is mounted on the elevator car. The brake drive includes a flexible tension member that passes around two tension-members reversing-sheaves. One end of the tension members extends parallel to the travel path of the elevator car and is coupled to an actuating element of the brake unit, and thereby also to the elevator car, so that in normal operation the tension member moves synchronously with the elevator car. A blocking device, at least on overspeed of the elevator car, brakes the tension member, as a consequence of which the tension member, via the actuating element, activates the brake unit. A monitoring device detects failure of the coupling between the tension member and the elevator car.

  • Publication number: 20040149524
Abstract: A lower rate of wear of brake blocks and a speed limiter cable for a lift speed limiter brake apparatus and thus a longer service life can be achieved with a cable brake having brake blocks of different materials. In a preferred embodiment, one of the brake blocks is of aluminium-bronze and the other brake block is of nodular cast iron or soft cast iron. In further embodiments, one or both of the brake blocks may be formed of a ceramic-containing material.

  • Publication number: 20040134727
Abstract: A brake shoe for braking a cable such as during speed limitation of an elevator. The brake shoe includes a shoe body supporting a brake lining facing the cable to be braked. The brake lining has at least two lining regions formed of different materials providing different effective braking properties during simultaneous contact with the cable.
