  • Patent number: 5271470
Abstract: The plow apparatus has plow blades to break up the soil in the plowed field. The broken up soil is scooped up with scooper blades by the forward motion of the plow apparatus and then conveyed to rotating tillers. The tillers break up the soil into smaller clumps. The tilled soil is then exposed to acoustical energy provided by acoustical transducers. The acoustical energy is of a sufficiently high intensity so as to kill or destroy weed seeds and insect larvae in the soil. The soil is then returned to the ground.

  • Patent number: 5271157
Abstract: The invention is directed to a guide bar for portable motor-driven chain saws. The guide bar includes two steel side parts and a center part connected to the side parts. The weight of the guide bar is kept optimally low while at the same time providing adequate stability and the longest possible service life by providing cutouts extending in the longitudinal direction which are provided with a filler of a material having a lower specific gravity. The cutouts of the side parts and the cutout in the center part filled likewise with a lighter material are arranged so as to not coincide with each other when the guide bar is assembled. In this way, a form-tight mounting for the filler is formed in the side parts and in the center part.

  • Patent number: 5271848
Abstract: Bauxite mineral is used directly, to remove phosphates from water, in a high efficiency, highly economical system. The process of the invention involves the step of contacting the waste water stream with Bauxite for a time sufficient to lower the phosphate concentration to a predetermined lower level. The predetermined lower level is typically less than about 2 mg/l of water, and can be to a concentration of less than 1 mg/l. The Bauxite has an average particle size of greater than about 50 mesh. Advantageously, the particle size is at least about one quarter of an inch. The Bauxite which is used can be washed and graded to produce Bauxite having a particle size on the order of about one quarter of an inch. The Bauxite can be ground to an average particle size of at least about 50 mesh to produce a material having a higher reaction rate.

  • Patent number: 5272188
Abstract: Water-dilutable coating binder combinations which can be deposited cathodically, and based on epoxy resin-amine adducts, acrylate copolymers and crosslinking components are described. The binders are particularly suitable for formulation of water-dilutable primers and one-coat paints when deposited cathodically are described. In 3 to 30% by weight, based on the solids, of a basic epoxy resin-amine adduct (A) which is free from epoxide groups, 70 to 97% by weight of a monomer mixture (B), which consists of esters of (meth)acrylic acid which contain secondary or tertiary amino groups, of monoesters of (meth)acrylic acid with diols, of (meth)acrylic acid alkyl esters and if appropriate of aromatic vinyl monomers, is polymerized. Components (A) and (B) comprise at least 5% by weight, preferably 10 to 20% by weight, of identical aliphatic radicals having 7 to 18 carbon atoms. The baked films based on these products have a high degree of gloss and an excellent UV, washing agent, and corrosion resistance.

  • Patent number: 5269836
Abstract: The present invention describes a passive membrane degasser device in which solid chunks of photographic materials (15) are pumped past a hydrophobic membrane (10). Air from in between the chunks is forced through the membrane by pump pressure including a screw auger (11) and a vacuum (12) on the outer side of the membrane. The solid chunks of photographic material (15) are then transferred to a liquefier where conventional ultrasonic deaeration is performed. This device causes no sensitometric problems and permits using a continuous liquefaction system without the use of a centrifugal vacuum degasser.
