  • Patent number: 11389791
Abstract: A process for regenerating a catalyst containing ruthenium or ruthenium compounds, which includes, optionally at elevated temperature, subjecting the catalyst to a hydrogen halide treatment, particularly a gas stream comprising hydrogen chloride, under non-oxidative conditions and, optionally at reduced temperature, to at least a two-stage oxidative post-treatment. The catalyst may have been poisoned by sulfur compounds. After the removal of sulfur, the catalyst is subjected to an oxidative post-treatment.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: May 14, 2018
Date of Patent: July 19, 2022
    Assignee: COVESTRO DEUTSCHLAND AG
Inventors: Andre Rittermeier, Michael Venz, Thomas Burbach, Timm Schmidt, Tim Loddenkemper, Frank Gerhartz, Walther Müller
  • Publication number: 20210154657
Abstract: A process is described for regenerating a catalyst comprising ruthenium or ruthenium compounds, which has been poisoned by sulfur compounds, in which the catalyst, optionally at elevated temperature, is subjected to treatment with a hydrogen halide, particularly a gas stream comprising hydrogen chloride, under non-oxidative conditions and additionally, optionally at reduced temperature, to an at least two-stage oxidative post-treatment.

  • Patent number: 8889578
Abstract: Processes comprising: providing a catalyst comprising a catalytic component selected from the group consisting of ruthenium, ruthenium compounds, and combinations thereof, wherein the catalyst is sulfur-poisoned with one or more sulfur compounds; and treating the catalyst with a gas stream comprising a hydrogen halide under nonoxidative conditions such that the catalyst is regenerated.

  • Publication number: 20140248208
Abstract: A catalyst material for producing chlorine by the catalytic gas-phase oxidation of hydrogen chloride, wherein the catalyst comprises oxide compounds of cerium as active component components and zirconium dioxide as supporting component and the catalyst h as a particularly high space-time yield with respect to the reactor volume

  • Publication number: 20120148478
Abstract: The present invention relates to a process for the preparation of chlorine by gas phase oxidation using a supported catalyst based on ruthenium, characterised in that the catalyst support has a plurality of pores having a pore diameter>50 nm and carries nanoparticles containing ruthenium and/or ruthenium compounds as catalytically active components.

  • Publication number: 20100080744
Abstract: The present invention relates to a process for mobilizing metallic ruthenium or ruthenium compounds from solids to form volatile ruthenium compounds by means of a gas stream containing a hydrogen halide and carbon monoxide, preferably hydrogen chloride and carbon monoxide, and for isolating the previously mobilized ruthenium compounds, preferably by deposition with cooling, e.g. in relatively cold zones, in particular on relatively cold surfaces, absorption in suitable solutions or adsorption on suitable support materials.
