  • Patent number: 7961118
Abstract: A method for differentiating hotkeys includes setting a plurality of hotkeys to correspond to a designated scan code and to correspond to a plurality of different identification codes, respectively, wherein the designated scan code and one identification code corresponding to each hotkey are outputted and the identification code is stored when each of the plurality of hotkeys is pressed; and determining whether a pressed key is one of the plurality of hotkeys according to whether any one of the plurality of identification codes is stored.

  • Publication number: 20090091538
Abstract: A computer system and a method for determining whether a hot key is triggered are disclosed. The method includes: querying a BIOS whether any hot key is triggered by a processing module every first interval time; querying the BIOS every second interval time if the BIOS replies there is any hot key being triggered, wherein the second interval time is shorter than the first interval time; querying the BIOS every first interval time if the query of the second interval time reaches a predetermined period and there is no hot key being triggered.

  • Publication number: 20090040078
Abstract: A method for differentiating keys includes setting a first layer application program and a second layer application program, detecting whether the second layer application program is executed to generate a detection result, and selectively utilizing the first layer application program or the second layer application program to determine an event corresponding to a scan code when receiving the scan code corresponds to a key.

  • Publication number: 20050088405
Abstract: A portable electronic device includes a pivot unit coupled to a main housing and a cover body such that the cover body is pivotable about a longitudinal axis parallel to a top surface of the main housing, and about a vertical axis transverse to the top surface of the main housing. A virtual control key module configures a display panel mounted on a first surface of the cover body to show simulated control keys thereon when the portable electronic device is operated in a mode, where the cover body is superimposed on the main housing such that a second surface of the cover body opposite to the first surface faces toward the top surface of the main housing. The simulated control keys have distinct functions assigned thereto and are available for selection so as to enable execution of the function assigned to a selected simulated control key.
