  • Patent number: 8566074
Abstract: A method, system and computer program product for determining the reliability of a software system. Test data inputs are utilized to simulate conditions under which software is executed. One or more test data inputs replace variables in a first algorithm and a second algorithm. The first algorithm and the second algorithm determine a first test parameter and a second test parameter, respectively. The first test parameter and second test parameters are transmitted to a third algorithm along with selected test data inputs. The third algorithm evaluates the input of the first test parameter, second test parameter and selected test data inputs, and calculates the projected number of users for the software. The projected number of users for the software is output to facilitate optimal usage of the software system.

  • Publication number: 20130007588
Abstract: Described are a system and method for testing a software application. Elements of a web document under test loaded in a web browser are identified. The elements are output to a plurality of string processors. The string processors determine one or more accessible strings of text and locale-sensitive information from the elements. • Publication number: 20090068596
Abstract: UV photoresist materials are disclosed, based on EPON 154 or EPON 165. Preferred embodiments, based on a composite of EPON 154 and EPON 165, spread evenly into a flat, uniform layer, even without spin-coating. The preferred embodiments bond strongly to all substrates, and are resistant to cracking and debonding following exposure and development. The preferred embodiments have high UV transmittance, which promotes uniform photopolymerization throughout a thick layer. Structures may be produced by UV lithography that have a sidewall quality that has previously been attainable only by photolithography with a collimated x-ray source.

  • Patent number: 7421159
Abstract: An accurate and inexpensive integral micro-optical system for coupling and aligning optical fibers with other optical components, such as other optical fibers, diffusers, beam shapers, beam splitters, mirrors, or lenses is disclosed. The micro-optical coupler disclosed comprises one or more fiberport collimators and one or more microlens arrays, optically aligned during fabrication so that an optical fiber, or other source of light, was coupled to another optical fiber, or other light receiver, by simple inserting the optical source in one side of the micro-coupler and inserting the optical receiver in the other side of the micro-coupler. Often the fabrication process for this system can be done in a single lithography procedure. Since the optical axis of each component was aligned during the fabrication step, no subsequent alignment was required.

  • Patent number: 7262917
Abstract: An inexpensive device and method of fabricating microlenses able to be pre-aligned with other optical components (e.g., mirrors, splitters, and prisms, cylindrical lenses, plano-plates and prisms) fabricated on the same substrate to form an integrated optical platform. This integrated optical platform enhances optical systems by reducing coupling losses, cross-talking, and dispersion, and allowing for the simultaneous optical focusing of one or more light beams in a true, three-dimensional arrangement. The novel device comprises an optical lens having an out-of-plane orientated, optical axis (i.e., the optical axial is parallel to the substrate on which the optical bench system is located) with a quasi-parabolic surface.

  • Publication number: 20050213425
Abstract: An inexpensive device and method of fabricating micromixers able to enhance the mixing efficiency of fluids by inducing diffusion and turbulence mixing within the micromixer, and by increasing the interfacial surface contact between fluids is disclosed. The device is a passive micromixer capable of mixing at least two different fluids (e.g., a DNA sample and a reagent) by creating impinging plumes of fluid using at least two or more arrays of micro-nozzles sized and shaped to cause the plumes to impact each other directly or interfacially. This novel, passive micromixer may be fabricated on a single substrate using a newly developed lithography technology for thick films of SU-8 resist.

  • Patent number: 5552883
Abstract: Optical and computational components are combined to form a high precision, six degree-of-freedom, single-sided, noncontact position measurement system. Reflective optical targets are provided on a target object whose position is to be sensed. Light beams are directed toward the optical targets, producing reflected beams. Electrical signals are produced indicating the points of intersection of the reflected beams and the position-sensitive detectors. The position sensitive detectors may be lateral-effect photodiodes. The signals are transformed to provide measurements of translation along and rotation around three nonparallel axes which define the space in which the target object moves.
