  • Publication number: 20240138024
Abstract: A method for disaster roaming includes initiating disaster roaming search by user equipment (UE) if one of following conditions occurs: the UE receives System Information Block (SIB) from a first Public Land Mobile Network (PLMN), the UE receives a message and/or an information element from the first PLMN indicating an occurrence of a disaster or availability of disaster roaming, and the UE determines out-of-service (OOS) from the first PLMN. The SIB includes at least one disaster roaming information element. The method further includes searching by the UE for a second PLMN to register.

  • Publication number: 20220025428
Abstract: Compositions and methods for encoding and retrieving data into nucleic acid memory for storage. More specifically, data is encoded into spatial locations within a nucleic acid architecture, which allows the data to be retrieved using super resolution microscopy. The data is then interrogated for errors, the errors corrected, and the data is then decoded.

  • Patent number: 10283145
Abstract: Disclosed herein are write heads for data storage devices, methods for making and using such write heads, and data storage devices comprising such write heads. A write head comprises a near-field transducer (NFT), a thermal sensor, and a shield disposed between the NFT and the thermal sensor, wherein the shield comprises a magnetic or conductive material, such as, for example, Cu, Ag, Au, Al, Rh, Ti, Cr, Mo, Fe, Co, or Ni or an alloy that includes Cu, Ag, Au, Al, Rh, Ti, Cr, Mo, Fe, Co, and/or Ni. In some embodiments, the thermal sensor comprises a first lead and a second lead, and the shield is connected to the first lead but not the second lead to provide heat sinking for the shield.

  • Patent number: 8314985
Abstract: A high-speed optical modulator based on Surface Plasmon-Polariton (SPP) at the hetero-junction of a metal-insulator-semiconductor (MIS) tunneling diode and including a phase-matching optical element, such as a prism or gold-lattice structure, is described. An investigation using the coupled mode theory shows that the applied bias across the hetero-junction changes the optical reflectance of an optically coupled MIS tunneling diode, such as a prism-coupled MIS tunneling diode or a gold lattice-coupled MIS tunneling diode, while the modulation efficiency achievable of the device depends on the thickness of the metal film used to construct the tunneling diode.

  • Patent number: 6226704
Abstract: The present invention provides a method and apparatus for performing bus transactions orderly and concurrently in a bus bridge. To meet the ordering rules, the invention adopts a HOLD/HLDA handshaking mechanism to control the flow of transactions in the bus bridge. When both HOLD and HLDA signals are asserted, the bus bridge holds the transaction processed in one direction and then the bus bridge is ready to process the transaction from another direction. That is, the bus bridge first controls the transaction flowing in one direction whenever there is request coming from another direction, wherein the HOLD signal is asserted simultaneously. Upon receipt of the HLDA signal indicating that the transaction flow has been completely held in one direction, the bus bridge allows the transaction to flow from another direction by granting the request agent bus ownership. The present invention also provides a method to avoid deadlock. The bus bridge retries transactions stalling the bus in two cases.
