Abstract: A method for coarsely and finely controlling contents via respective main and auxiliary sliders, and a portable terminal supporting the same are provided. The portable terminal includes: a display unit displaying a main slider including a slidable path of a predetermined length for designating a predetermined region of contents and an auxiliary slider extending at least a part of a slidable path of the main slider; a touch screen detecting a signal for selectively displaying the auxiliary slider; and a controller for performing a control operation to display the auxiliary slider according to generation of the signal.

Abstract: A mobile terminal and method for controlling a touch screen thereof are provided, wherein multi-point touch inputs such as a multi-point sweep input and/or a multi-point double tap input are sensed by a controller, and in response to a multi-point sweep, a display screen can be scrolled at a faster rate relative to a scroll in response to sensing a single point sweep, thus enabling a user to rapidly scroll to desired portions of an information screen using e.g., a two finger sweep, and to scroll slower using a single finger sweep at the same sweep rate and during a photo album application, scrolling to other photos in response to a multi-touch input is possible while in a zoomed-in state, while panning is carried out responsive to a single point touch input.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for editing the home screen in a touch-enabled device enables the touch-enabled device to move a content item between pages of the home screen in an easy and intuitive way by: displaying a selected page as a current home screen; detecting a first interaction in the course of utilizing the home screen; displaying, when the first interaction is a page transition interaction, a transition mode screen; detecting a second interaction for moving a content item between pages while the transition mode screen is displayed; and moving the content item to a target page indicated by the second interaction.

Abstract: A mobile terminal including a multi-touch based system method for controlling list data output and a method for the same. The mobile terminal is capable of controlling list data output and includes: a touchscreen for generating various multi-touch events. The mobile terminal further includes a storage unit for storing lists of data items that are outputted to the touchscreen. The mobile terminal further includes; a control unit for controlling a the display of list data that are composed of multiple items for an application program in response to a currently active user function, and that changes in response to the generation of a multi-touch event, arrangement of the list data on the touchscreen according to the type of the application program to output a new list output screen.

Abstract: A touch-sensitive device has a touch-based input interface and includes a touch-based folder control for creating, moving or arranging folders in response to an input of a touch-based user interaction. The touch-sensitive device receives an input from a touch-based user interaction on a home screen of the touch sensitive device and creates a new folder in response to at least one object selected by the user interaction. The touch based folder control visually disposes the new folder at a specific place on the home screen.

Abstract: An onscreen function execution method for a mobile terminal having a touchscreen is provided. The method allows for executing functions of an activated application by a tap on a specific area of the touchscreen. An onscreen function execution method of the present invention includes mapping active regions of the touchscreen to functions of at least one application, displaying an application screen in response to an application activation command and executing, if a tap is detected on one of the active regions, a function mapped to the application activation command. The active regions may include a function execution display region and the applications may comprise a camera application, a music player application, an idle mode screen application and the like. The method allows a user to execute functions of an activated application by tap on the touchscreen.

Abstract: A method of displaying information in a mobile terminal having a touch screen is provided. The method includes determining whether a touch input is generated by a touch screen, determining whether a touch area moves, calculating a movement direction of the touch area by extracting a value of the touch area movement, determining a current mode according to the calculated movement direction of the touch area, executing a function of the current mode corresponding to the extracted value of the touch area movement, and displaying, while executing the function of the current mode, at least one of a displacement value generated by executing the function of the current mode and a current mode icon indicating the current mode. Accordingly, when displaying information according to a touch input, changes of information may be displayed distinctively, and thereby user convenience may be improved.

Abstract: A device and method for displaying a list in a portable terminal having a touch pad are provided. The portable terminal includes an input unit for generating a sweep event; a speed-determining unit for checking speed of the sweep event and setting a scroll speed corresponding to the speed of the sweep event; a controller for controlling scrolling through items on a list according to the scroll speed; and a display for displaying the scrolled items on the list under the control of the controller. Therefore, the list scroll can be easily performed according to the inputted sweep event.
