  • Patent number: 10606742
Abstract: A power electronics device with an improved human interface module (HIM) is provided. More specifically, a motor drive is provided that includes a HIM with a portable memory device that stores the programming configuration of the motor drive. The improved HIM with portable memory enables improved techniques for quickly and efficiently updating the programming configuration of one or several motor drives.

  • Patent number: 7905102
Abstract: A stability control algorithm is provided for a centrifugal compressor. The stability control algorithm is used to control a variable geometry diffuser and a hot gas bypass valve (when provided) in response to the detection of compressor instabilities. The stability control algorithm can adjust the position of a diffuser ring in the variable geometry diffuser in response to the detection of a surge condition or a stall condition. The diffuser ring in the variable geometry diffuser can be adjusted to determine an optimal position of the diffuser ring. The stability control algorithm can also be used to open a hot gas bypass valve in response to the detection of continued surge conditions.

  • Patent number: 6619061
Abstract: A pull-down control algorithm for an HVAC refrigeration system is provided. The control algorithm utilizes a fuzzy logic methodology to automatically adjust a flow of refrigerant in the system during a pull-down to maintain a desired pull-down rate. The desired pull-down rate is decreased proportionately as the temperature of the fluid being pulled down approaches a desired operating setpoint to avoid or minimize any overshoot of the operating setpoint. The desired pull-down rate is obtained by adjusting a rate sensitivity factor used in the control algorithm. When the temperature of the fluid being pulled down is above a predetermined value from the operating setpoint, the control algorithm uses a fuzzy logic methodology to determine a rate sensitivity that results in the desired pull-down rate that approaches the operating setpoint without overshoot.
