  • Patent number: 7300426
Abstract: An absorbent article and method are disclosed for providing side leakage protection for an undergarment and absorbent article positioning guidance for proper placement on the undergarment. An absorbent configured to fit the pudendal region of a woman and a liquid-impermeable baffle are provided with a pair of garment-attachment adjustable scroll members for receiving a crotch portion of an undergarment. In one aspect, arcuately shaped curled folds on a lateral side surface of the absorbent article form the adjustable scroll members. In one aspect, a stiffening insert in the adjustable scroll member provide superior curling and holding capability. In one aspect, a friction-enhancing material reduces the sliding of the panty elastic or fabric in the adjustable scroll, thereby to reduce twisting and shifting of the undergarment.

  • Publication number: 20020046132
Abstract: A method of processing a purchase order for a consumer-specific assortment of feminine care products, which may include non-commercial quantities of absorbent catamenial products, is preferably implemented via an Internet web site, allowing consumers to conveniently and discretely place purchase orders for such product assortments. The ordered assortment can be delivered on or about a target delivery date specified by the consumer. The custom product assortment may include other types of feminine care products typically needed by the consumer on a monthly basis, including contraceptives and menstrual cramping medication. The consumer-specific assortment of feminine care products may be determined by prompting the consumer for certain detailed information related to her monthly cycle and then processing this information to produce a consumer-specific recommendation.

  • Patent number: 5614281
Abstract: The creped nonwoven laminate loop material of the present invention includes a creped nonwoven layer attached to a support layer. The creped nonwoven layer may be, for example, a spunbond nonwoven web or a staple fiber bonded carded web. The support layer may be formed of any material that can be suitably attached or bonded to the creped nonwoven layer, including a foam, a plastic film or another nonwoven web. The exposed, top surface of the creped nonwoven layer includes raised "loop" areas having low fiber density and high z-directional fiber orientation that are designed to receive and engage the hook elements projecting from a hook material. The raised areas of the creped nonwoven layer are separated by non-raised areas having relatively higher fiber density and relatively lower z-directional fiber orientation when compared to the fiber density and z-directional fiber orientation of the raised areas.

  • Patent number: 5192606
Abstract: A distinctive absorbent article includes a backsheet layer which has a width dimension and a length dimension, and which includes a front waistband section, a back waistband section, and an intermediate section interconnecting the front and back waistband sections. An absorbent body is superposed on the backsheet layer, and an intermediate transfer layer, which is liquid permeable, is disposed in facing relation with the absorbent body to generally sandwich the absorbent body between the backsheet and transfer layer. The transfer layer has an appointed bodyside, inner surface, and a bodyside liner layer is located on the inner surface of the transfer layer. The bodyside liner comprises a bonded carded web which has a basis weight within the range of about 15-40 gsm and is composed of bicomponent fibers having a fiber denier within the range of about 1.0-3.0 dpf. The bodyside liner is constructed to provide for a Penetration rate index of at least about 1.
