    Abstract: An electrical connector includes an insulative housing, a number of contacts retained in the insulative housing and a cover shielding the insulative housing. The insulative housing includes a top wall, a pair of side walls and a plug-receiving cavity formed thereby. Each contact includes a resilient contacting portion extending into the plug-receiving cavity. The cover includes a top plate covering the top wall and a pair of side plates respectively covering the pair of side walls. Each side plate includes an engaging arm extending inwardly therefrom. The insulative housing defines a pair of cutouts formed at boundaries of the top wall and the pair of side walls. The pair of engaging arms extend into the plug-receiving cavity through the pair of cutouts, respectively.

    Abstract: A receptacle connector includes an insulative housing, a number of contacts fixed to the insulative housing and a shell enclosing the insulative housing. The insulative housing includes a main portion, a mating portion and a fixing portion. The shell includes a first metallic shell and a second metallic shell fastened to the first metallic shell. The first metallic shell encloses the mating portion and cooperatively defines therebetween a mating space for receiving a plug connector. The second metallic shell defines a hollow space in which the first metallic shell is at least partly received. As a result, the first metallic shell and the second metallic shell have a strong structure which is stable for mating with the plug connector.

The conductive contacts are respectively received in the contact-receiving passages. The pair of plug power contacts are respectively received in the upper and lower plug contact slots. Each plug power contact includes a flat contacting section exposed to the first plug cavity and a first soldering section. The flat contacting sections are positioned on upper and lower surfaces of the first plate, respectively. The plug connector and the receptacle connector define heat dissipation channels in communication with each other in order that generating heat can be effectively dissipated to the air.

Each power contact has a contacting portion, a tail portion and an intermediate portion interconnecting the contacting portion and the tail portion. The intermediate portion is provided with a retention element in a rear edge thereof extending towards an inside wall of a passageway defined through the insulative housing. Each inside wall of the passageway forms a bump thereon extending along an insertion direction of a complementary connector. The retention element rides on the bump to thereby prevent an involuntarily anti-clockwise movement of the insulative housing with respect to the printed circuit board.
