    Abstract: Certain aspects of the present disclosure provide techniques for physical uplink control channel (PUCCH) before radio resource control connection setup completion. A by a base station (BS) generally includes transmitting a system information block, to a user equipment (UE), containing system information indicating a resource set of a plurality of predefined resource sets, each containing a plurality of resources. The BS transmits downlink control information on physical downlink control channel associated with a control channel element (CCE) index, to the UE, containing resource indicator (RI) bits to indicate a resource of the plurality of resources of the indicated resource set available for the UE to use for transmitting uplink control information (UCI) in a PUCCH. The BS monitors the indicated resource for the PUCCH transmission. A UE determines the resource based on the SI, RI bits, and CCE index, and transmits UCI in the PUCCH on the determined resource.

    Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. In some systems, devices may implement transmission repetitions for transport blocks (TBs) to improve reception reliability. To support low latency, TBs may be transmitted in any transmission time interval (TTI) or mini-slot within a subframe or slot. The systems may implement processes to handle these TB repetitions near slot or subframe boundaries. For example, different resources in time for an initial TB transmission may correspond to different numbers of repetitions to avoid crossing defined boundaries. In some cases, TB transmission parameters, numbers of repetitions, or both may be modified based on a repetition window spanning multiple slots or subframes. A base station may transmit a grant indicating the initial resource in time, and a user equipment (UE) may determine the number of transmission repetitions for a TB based on a proximity of the initial resource in time to a defined boundary.

    Abstract: The present disclosure provides for adaptive resource management in new radio operations that favors the usage of resources for pilot signals and channel estimation in the transition slots of a slot burst, and the transmission of data in the subsequent slots of the slot burst. A device such as a user equipment (UE) and/or a base station may determine that the UE is operating in a transition state. The device may adapt a first numerology including a first number of symbols per slot used for transmission in the transition slots during the transition state, to a second scaled numerology including a second number of symbols per slot used for transmission in the subsequent slots after the transition state. A ratio of reference signal symbols to data symbol symbols may be greater in the transition slots than in the subsequent slots.

    Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described that support time mask techniques for shortened transmission time intervals (sTTIs) that may enhance low latency communications. Time masks may be identified and applied for transmissions that use sTTIs, in a manner that provides increased portions of sTTI durations having higher transmission power, and thus increase the likelihood of successful reception of such transmissions at a receiver. In some cases, a transmitter, such as a user equipment (UE), may identify one or more sTTIs for transmissions of a first wireless service (e.g., an ultra-reliable low-latency communication (URLLC) service). An sTTI may be identified based on a duration of a TTI associated with the first wireless service being below a threshold duration (e.g., a TTI duration of less than 1 ms may be identified as an sTTI).

The techniques allocate available blind decodes using a nested mapping scheme over one or more dimensions, based on a prioritization. In some other cases, the number of blind decodes may be allocated, either uniformly, or proportionally, between the plurality of search space set occasions. Other aspects disclose techniques for implicit CSI-RS resource selection by the UE that require fewer signaling resources. Instead of explicitly signaling CSI-RS resources to the UE, the UE may implicitly select CSI-RS resource for CSI feedback reporting based on information known to the UE, e.g. a subframe on which a reporting request is received. This may reduce the impact of the additional signaling in the UE grant.
