Publication number: 20220150888Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A user equipment (UE) may be configured to communicate with a base station on different channels or messages with different processing timelines. In order to prevent a collision between processing communications associated with the different length TTIs, the UE may drop one or more communications on corresponding channels with longer processing timelines to receive and/or process the transmission on the channel with a shorter processing timeline. Additionally, the UE may transmit uplink control information (UCI) for the one or more dropped communications, where the UCI may include hybrid access request (HARQ) acknowledgement/negative acknowledgement (ACK/NAK) feedback, channel quality indicator (CQI), precoding matrix indicator (PMI), rank indicator (RI), etc. If a downlink transmission is dropped, the UE may transmit a NAK message. Alternatively, if an uplink transmission is dropped, the UE may transmit at least a portion of the UCI.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 26, 2022Publication date: May 12, 2022Inventors: Seyedkianoush Hosseini, Amir Farajidana, Wanshi Chen

Publication number: 20220150885Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described. A user equipment (UE) may identify uplink (UL) control information (UCI) to transmit during a subframe. The UE may then select a UL channel on which to transmit the UCI based on whether a shared data and control UL channel employs contention-based scheduling. For example, multiple UEs could contend for access to the same semi-persistently scheduled (SPS) physical UL shared channel (PUSCH). Each UE may utilize a different demodulation reference (DMRS) signal cyclic shift to identify their transmissions. In some cases, some UCI, such as channel state information (CSI), may be transmitted on a contention-based PUSCH, while other UCI, such as acknowledgement information, may be transmitted on a physical uplink control channel (PUCCH). In some cases, the channel selection may be based on a configuration received from a base station.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 17, 2021Publication date: May 12, 2022Inventors: Wanshi Chen, Ozcan Ozturk, Aleksandar Damnjanovic, Juan Montojo

Publication number: 20220150017Abstract: Channel state information (CSI) operations are disclosed with regard to elevation beamforming (EB)/full dimension (FD) multiple input, multiple output (ED/FD-MIMO) operations. With CSI processing associated with multiple CSI-reference signal (CSI-RS) resources, ambiguities may arise in determining the CSI reporting type and rank. CSI reporting type may be determined using a last reported beam selection indicator (BI) or, in the absence of a BI, may be determined according to a predefined rule. When rank and BI are reported separately and rank is absent, user equipment may determine a default reference rank for CSI reporting based on either or both of previously reported rank or BI. When rank and BI are jointly reported, encoding schemes with fixed bitwidths determined based on either CSI-RS processes or resources may be used to enhance decoding. CSI-RS antenna ports, processes, or resources may also be used in determining application of CSI processing relaxation.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 25, 2022Publication date: May 12, 2022Inventors: Chao Wei, Yu Zhang, Wanshi Chen, Peter Gaal

Patent number: 11330619Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described. A user equipment (UE) and a base station may use low latency communications to improve the throughput of a wireless link. To facilitate efficient low latency communication, the UE may send UE-initiated CSI reports in addition to periodic and base station-initiated reports. For example, the UE may, in various examples, send UE-initiated CSI reports using contention based spectrum, using a request-to-transmit, or using a CSI differential (i.e., an indicator of a change in channel conditions). The base station may schedule different UEs for uplink low latency communication by providing resources to each UE for CSI and scheduling requests (SRs) using coherent or non-coherent uplink transmissions. The CSI and SR may also be combined with uplink feedback.Type: GrantFiled: October 11, 2018Date of Patent: May 10, 2022Assignee: QUALCOMM IncorporatedInventors: Shimman Arvind Patel, Wanshi Chen, Peter Gaal

Patent number: 11330623Abstract: According to some examples, a base station may allocate uplink and/or downlink resources (e.g., in the time domain, frequency domain, spatial domain) to user equipment (UEs), or groups of UEs, that may be subsequently reallocated. For example, a base station may determine a reallocation of uplink resources, and may issue a preemption indication (e.g., a cancelation indication) that may correspond to at least a portion of a random access resource. UEs may be configured to monitor for preemption indications and, based on received preemption indications, UEs may determine whether or not to proceed with transmission of a random access message using a random access resource that at least partially overlaps with resources indicated by the preemption indication. For example, a UE may transmit, or preempt transmission of, a random access message based on a preemption configuration of the UE (e.g., configured rules for UE preemption of random access resources).Type: GrantFiled: August 12, 2020Date of Patent: May 10, 2022Assignee: QUALCOMM IncorporatedInventors: Wei Yang, Jing Lei, Seyed Ali Akbar Fakoorian, Seyedkianoush Hosseini, Wanshi Chen

Publication number: 20220141879Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described. Generally, the described techniques provide for efficiently transmitting data and control information in a first RACH message to a base station as part of a two-step RACH procedure. In particular, rather than or in addition to transmitting data and control information in a physical uplink shared channel (PUSCH) in the first RACH message, a user equipment (UE) may transmit the data and control information along with a RACH preamble in a RACH occasion in the first RACH message (e.g., when the number of bytes of data or control information to be transmitted is low). Using these techniques, in some instances, the UE may transmit the data and control information in a first RACH message without transmitting the PUSCH, and the overhead associated with transmitting the PUSCH may be eliminated.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 21, 2020Publication date: May 5, 2022Inventors: Yiqing CAO, Wanshi CHEN, Jing LEI, Joseph Binamira SORIAGA, Peter GAAL, Juan MONTOJO, Ruiming ZHENG, Peng CHENG
