  • Publication number: 20060086419
Abstract: A mobile wood/log processor used for the production and baling of Chunkwood to be used as hog fuel for the production of electrical power. The machine uses a plurality of guillotine type shear blades 27 to produce the Chunkwood. The Chunkwood is then compressed and fed into the baler assembly 34. The completed bale is then discharged to the ground for pickup and transport to the power plant.

  • Patent number: 5690260
Abstract: A bicycle carrier has a body member which is tubular in shape and size to have a telescoped connected fit in a tubular vehicle hitch member. A pivot support is provided at a rearward portion of the body member and pivotally supports an upright bicycle support post. Pivot support for the post is between an upright bicycle loaded position and a rearward tilted bicycle loading and unloading position that allows a tailgate for a rear door of a vehicle to be opened. Cooperating cam and a cam follower is connected between the upright support post and are driven by a turnbuckle assembly to provide a firm compressive contact between the body member and a vehicle hitch member when the bicycle support post is pivoted to its upright position whereby to provide a tight rattle-free support of the upright bicycle support post on the pivot. The cam and cam follower can also be tightened to the extent to provide a theft-proof connection.

  • Patent number: 4805676
Abstract: An adjustable infeed ramp supports the input end of a main frame at a height to tilt the main frame to correspond to the inclination of a log in process. Pulled into the machine by a winch line, the leading end of the log is gripped by vertical feed rolls on a pair of side squeeze arms, a horizontal feed roll on a top squeeze arm and then by a horizontal top feed roll of hourglass shape just ahead of a vertical transverse shear blade. In a first operation the shear blade cuts less than entirely through the log and then moves away from the input end of the main frame, sliding the log, assisted by the feed rolls, farther into the machine. This movement pushes the leading end of the log through an adjustable splitter head assembly capable of splitting the leading end portion into two, three or six pieces, as desired.

  • Patent number: 4483379
Abstract: The machine automatically pivots itself into alignment with the orientation of a log being drawn into the machine, and/or pivots the log, and is vertically adjustable to conform to the inclination of a log in process. To cut off an end piece of the log, a shear blade first makes a partial stroke cutting less than entirely through the log. Then the shear blade frame moves away from the input end of the machine, pulling in another length of log. Then the first cut is completed and the shear blade and shear blade frame retract to starting positions for the next cut. This cycle is repeated in automatic operation. When splitting is desired, as for firewood, the shear blade is utilized as a ram to force each end piece of the log through a splitter at the output end of the machine.

  • Patent number: 4398581
Abstract: Apparatus on the back of a tractor carries an adjustable shear blade frame. This frame may be inclined upward or downward from horizontal to cut off trees at ground level and parallel with an inclined ground surface. The frame may be side shifted to receive the trunk of a tree to be felled when the tractor is not backed to a precise position adjacent the tree. The frame may be removed from the apparatus for felling trees at a distance from the tractor. The frame may be turned upright and side shifted to cut to desired lengths the trunks of felled trees pulled alongside the tractor. The frame is also equipped for splitting short lengths of the tree trunks into firewood.

  • Patent number: 4053118
Abstract: The reel winds in hose or electric cable lines without troublesome rotating connections for the fluid or electric circuits involved. As line is unwound from the reel, another section of the line is first unwound from a small hub extension adjacent the reel and then rewound in an opposite direction so that this internal section of the line which is contained within the reel housing requires storage space for less than one-third as much line as the external length which is reeled out and in. An actuating spring is externally mounted for easy replacement or repair. The spring and internal section of the line are readily reversible to provide a reversible reel for either left hand or right hand mounting on the equipment where it is used, such as a lift truck.
