    Abstract: An array of resilient floor tiles is assembled into a continuous sheet after being laid down. An array of included, sacrificial resistive wires is buried along the edges of the tiles and is controllably heated in order to cause welding of the edges of tiles across the paths of the wires to neighbouring tiles. Subsequently the wires may be used to give the array integral tensile strength. The welded array is provided with greater strength for resisting use, expansive and contractile forces caused by environmental heat and cold and also long-term tile contraction owing to loss of plasticiser as may be seen with PVC-based tiles.

    Abstract: An electric impact tool in which a rotating mass rotates in a forward direction to impact upon and transfer torque to an anvil, and rotates in a reverse direction opposite the forward direction in response to such impact. A direction sensor monitors the direction of rotation of the rotating mass, and a controller turns an electric motor on and off during respective forward and reverse rotation of the rotating mass. An energy storing mechanism may be used to absorb energy from reverse rotation of the rotating mass and release the absorbed energy to rotate the rotating mass in the forward direction. A controller may be used to store the angular position of the rotating mass upon each impact and turn off the motor prior to the following impact to avoid energizing the motor during stall.

    Abstract: An air conditioning system and method are provided for use in an aircraft having a pressurized area and an unpressurized area. The air conditioning system includes an air conditioning pack located in the unpressurized area of the aircraft that conditions fresh air. The air conditioning system also includes a first air duct for directing a flow of recirculation air from the pressurized area, through a pressure bulkhead, and into the unpressurized area. A mixer is also provided and advantageously positioned in the unpressurized area for mixing the conditioned air from the air conditioning pack and the recirculation air from the pressurized area. Advantageously, the mixer obviates the need for a mix manifold and saves valuable space for passengers, cargo, and other aircraft equipment. The air conditioning system also includes a second air duct that directs the mixture of conditioned air and recirculation air from the mixer to the pressurized area of the aircraft.

The device includes a switch positioned intermediate the battery and the load and circuit means for integrating current flow from said battery when said generator is inoperative and automatically opening the switch when the product of said integration reaches a predetermined threshold level. The device is particularly adapted for a vehicular battery and uses a length of the battery cable for detecting current flow.
