  • Publication number: 20190038024
Abstract: A storage enclosure of ample size to contain common firearms within, comprising a box with a door attached to the top of the box with articulating hinges, that latches at the bottom of the box. A latch release mechanism at the bottom of the box, with a release bar on the exterior of the bottom of the box, which when pressed inward, releases the latches and allows the door to open unassisted by the user via the force of compression springs. Within the interior of the storage enclosure are slatted attachment structures—both on the interior of the box and the interior of the door—to which a vast array of self-defense weapons can be mounted with retaining devices of various type (hooks, pegs, etc.). To the storage enclosure assembly is attached cladding elements—legs, panels, fascia—to make a bed headboard.

  • Patent number: 7570458
Abstract: Apparatus for a disk drive having an actuator controlled suspension in operative association with a disk. The suspension mounting plane datum plane and suspension datum plane diverge at an acute angle. When the suspension is subjected to use conditions including seek operations and disk-induced turbulent wind flow conditions and induce sway forces and torsion forces that produce lateral off-track motions of the slider gap, the extension of the suspension datum plane substantially through the slider center of mass minimizes sway forces, and lateral off track motion of the slider gap is minimized. Error from torsion forces is minimized by having the dimple center of curvature coincide with a horizontal plane including the slider gap and having the dimple longitudinal axis extend through the slider center of mass, so that both sway and torsion force sources of track misregistration are addressed.

  • Patent number: 7292413
Abstract: A disk drive suspension has a base portion, a spring portion, and a beam portion carrying a slider at a disk. The base portion is a laminate of two inextensible outer layers and an inner layer that is extensible in shear. Microactuators that expand or contract are attached by their opposite ends in angled or parallel relation to the respective outer layers to shift the outer layers relative to each other as a function of shearing in the inner layer to shift the slider at the disk.

  • Patent number: 7265944
Abstract: A load beam for a disk drive suspension in which the radius of the perimeter transition between the load beam portion and the load beam spring portion is increased to ensure the stress encountered when the load beam is bent from its normal range, for installation into a disk drive, for example, from a previously typical 0.002 inch to 0.010 inch, is distributed sufficiently that the load beam spring portion is subject to only elastic, not plastic deformation. Thus, the gram loads exerted by the load beam spring portion are reliably consistent.

  • Patent number: 7067044
Abstract: Cultivated field water is desalinated by a series of independent units that float on the water surface, taking up the saline water with a wick, evaporating the water from the wick in desalinating relation by concentrating incident solar radiation with a combination of a lenses and cooperating mirrors onto the upper end portion of the wick while the wick lower end portion is immersed in the field water, capturing the desalinated vapor resulting by condensing within the unit and returning the condensed, desalinated water to the field, and periodically renewing the wick by rinsing the salt from it at a cleaning station beyond the field.

  • Patent number: 6856487
Abstract: A disk drive suspension having a minimized 2nd torsion characteristic includes a load beam having a given side profile and centerline rotation axis. The load beam has a base portion, a spring portion, and a beam portion. The beam portion has a distal section supporting a flexure having a tongue. There is a dimple between the tongue and the load beam, and a slider carried on the tongue for gimballing movement about the dimple. The dimple has a given height that displaces said beam portion so that the beam portion side profile is biased from said centerline rotation axis. A bend is placed in the beam portion distal section of a size and location to offset the displacement of the beam portion by the dimple while maintaining the beam portion before said distal section straight. Thus, the beam portion side profile registers with the centerline rotation axis and its 2nd torsion characteristic is minimized.
