Patent number: 9861911Abstract: One or more dilution tubes for increasing the dilution of pulp as it enters a thickener are provided. One or more pipes, referred to here as dilution tubes, can be added to sides of a feed pipe of a thickener. One end of a dilution tube can open to a tank of the thickener, and the other end can open into the feed pipe. As pulp flows through the feed pipe, low pressure suction can be created that pulls water from the tank, through the dilution tube, and into the feed pipe. The water pulled in through the dilution tube can increase the dilution of the pulp. A highly diluted pulp can contact a flocculent efficiently and lead to a high settling rate in a thickener. Accordingly, the use of dilution tubes can increase the efficiency of a thickener.Type: GrantFiled: October 17, 2012Date of Patent: January 9, 2018Assignee: Summit Mining InternationalInventor: David Warren King

Publication number: 20050178480Abstract: A family of castable and weldable nickel-base alloys that exhibit a desirable balance of strength and resistance to corrosion and oxidation suitable for gas turbine engine applications. A first alloy consists essentially of, by weight, 1 8% to 20% cobalt, 22.2% to 22.8% chromium, 1.8% to 2.2% tungsten, greater than 1.5% to 2.3% aluminum, 1.6% to 2.4% titanium, where the sum of aluminum and titanium is 2.8% to 4.4%, 0.7% to 0.9% columbium, 0.9% to 1.9% tantalum, 0.003% to 0.009% boron, 0.002% to 0.02% zirconium, 0.05% to 0.10% carbon, with the balance essentially nickel and incidental impurities. A second alloy consists essentially of, by weight, 5% to 8% cobalt, 22.2% to 22.8% chromium, 1.8% to 2.2% tungsten, 1.2% to 2.3% aluminum, 1.6% to 2.4% titanium, where the sum of aluminum and titanium is 2.8% to 4.4%, 0.7% to 0.9% columbium, 0.9% to 1.9% tantalum, 0.003% to 0.009% boron, 0.002% to 0.02% zirconium, 0.05% to 0.10% carbon, with the balance essentially nickel and incidental impurities.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 26, 2002Publication date: August 18, 2005Applicant: General Electric CompanyInventors: Cyril Beck, John Wood, Stephen Graham, Warren King

Patent number: 6267709Abstract: An isokinetic resistance apparatus includes a motor having an output shaft and a motor controller adapted to control power to the motor to maintain a first constant rotational speed of the output shaft. The output shaft of the motor rotates a driven shaft in a first rotational direction at a second constant rotational speed. A force receiving member is coupled with the driven shaft by a force transmitting linkage having a unidirectional clutch. A force exerted upon the force receiving member in the first rotational direction is transmitted through the driven shaft and the drive linkage to the output shaft of the motor. The motor controller adjusts power to the motor to compensate for such force and proportionately increase resistance to maintain the first constant rotational speed of the output shaft.Type: GrantFiled: October 18, 1999Date of Patent: July 31, 2001Assignee: Canadian Space AgencyInventors: Gary Jacques, Brent Warren King, Ken Wilbur Moore, Daren Paul Tremaine
