    Abstract: The systems and methods described herein allow a user to communicate using a ground sensor network that is capable of both line-of-sight (LOS) and non-line-of-sight (NLOS) communication. In particular, the systems and methods herein described transmit and receive ultraviolet radiation having a wavelength within the solar blind region from a plurality of sensing nodes arranged both in a LOS network, which communicates via LOS communication, and in a NLOS network, which communicates via NLOS communication. The ultraviolet radiation is then transmitted from the plurality of sensing nodes to a remote receiver, via LOS communication.

    Abstract: An extreme wide angle, very large aperture, very compact, solar blind, UV imaging lens system. The lens system has a fused silica polyvinyl alcohol glass color filter, a lens made of fused silica, a lens made of nickel sulfate, a layer of coupling fluid and another lens made of fused silica. Alternatively, sapphire can be used after the color filter instead of the fused silica. An alternative lens is composed of two layers of fused silica, a layer of nickel sulfate, another layer of fused silica, coupling fluid followed by polyvinyl alcohol, a color glass filter and coupling fluid followed by fused silica. In a fourth embodiment, the two layers of fused silica are followed by polyvinyl alcohol, a layer of colored glass filter, fused silica, nickel sulfate, coupling fluid, and fused silica.

    Abstract: An integrated optical system illuminates an ultraviolet spatial detector with an image from a field of interest. The ultraviolet spatial detector is comprised of an electron multiplying microchannel plate and a 100 pixel discrete anode array using a high strip current microchannel plate. The discrete anode array preserves the spatial distribution of the image. The ultraviolet spatial sensor has a wide field of view. The ultraviolet spatial detector has a photon counting sensor capable of detecting ultraviolet sources to determine their position to within plus or minus 4.5 degrees.

    Abstract: Molding press apparatus (20) for simultaneously operating a plurality of molds (M) having multiple mold parts (M1, M2) including, a framework (25), first and second platen assemblies (U,L) supported by the framework for carrying the mold parts of the molds, a third platen assembly (I) interposed between the first and second platen assemblies for mounting mating mold parts in opposed relation to the mold parts carried by the first and second platen assemblies, a drive assembly (80) for simultaneously moving the first and second platen assemblies relative to the third platen assembly for opening and closing the molds. Loading and unloading apparatus (150) may be provided for simultaneously transporting preformed fiber reinforcements (R) to the molds and for transporting molded parts (P) away from the molds associated with the platen assemblies.
