  • Patent number: 8882155
Abstract: An assembly for fastening a fitting to a hole in a tubular manifold having a hole. A plurality of refrigerant tubes extend into the manifold transversely to the hole. The assembly includes a fitting that extends along an axis and defines an opening to provide clearance for the refrigerant tubes extending into the manifold. The fitting also presents a pair of slots in spaced and parallel relationship with one another. The assembly further includes a semi-cylindrical shaped mounting plate including a bracket. The bracket presents a pair of legs which extend in spaced and parallel relationship with one another and engage the slots of the fitting to limit rotary movement of the fitting about the axis relative to the bracket before and during brazing of the fitting to the manifold to maintain a clearance between the lower section of the fitting and the refrigerant tubes.

  • Patent number: 5636685
Abstract: A plate type oil cooler has a louvered cooling fin with corrugations running transverse to the axis of the plates. The plates have central flat areas spaced from each other by a constant thickness, each of which transitions into a marginal edge across a semi-cylindrical area of progressively decreasing thickness. The cooling fin has its height tapered and reduced at the side edges in such a way as to fit between the semi-cylindrical areas of the opposed plates without binding. This is achieved by stamping the side edges of the fin walls with localized indentations which pull the fin height in enough to match the reduced thickness areas of the plates. Therefore, the bypass oil flow areas that would otherwise exist are at least partially blocked, improving thermal efficiency.

  • Patent number: 5234302
Abstract: A conveyor assembly for a braze furnace includes a plurality of first chain links pivotally interconnected to form a continuous loop chain and a plurality of second chain links pivotally interconnected to form a continuous loop chain identical to the first chain links. The first and second chain links are interconnected by rod-like cross members which also integrally form the pintles for the respective first and second chain links. First and second rollers are rollably supported from each cross member adjacent the respective first and second chain links. First and second workpart support members are pivotally connected between adjacent pairs of cross members and disposed equidistantly between the first and second rollers. The first and second workpart support members may be either cast or stamped structures having a flat upper surface for supporting workparts above the first and second chain links and above the first and second rollers.

  • Patent number: 5146847
Abstract: A strap feed assembly wraps a flexible strap around an item. A drive wheel is connected to a reversible drive motor for feeding and reversing the strap to wrap the strap around the item and to tension the strap once it is wrapped therearound. A controller operates the drive motor to control the speed, acceleration, direction of rotation, and tensioning of the strap. The velocity and acceleration of the drive motor are varied depending on the nearness of completion of the feeding and tensioning. Variable tension is achieved by monitoring the current drawn by the drive motor and comparing same to predetermined values to stop reversal and therefore tensioning.

  • Patent number: 5129210
Abstract: A clamping and cut-off apparatus for a banding strap around an object, including a convex shaped knife and a concave shaped cutting member operable to cut an arcuate shape in a banding strap which has been initially fed intermediate the edges of the concave shaped cutting member and the convex shaped knife and thence around an object. Crimping members are reciprocally and pivotally mounted in the housing adjacent the clamping member to seal together overlapping portions of the strap just prior to the cutting operation. The bottom portion of the housing is slidably removed from between the sealed and cut strap and the external banded object.
