  • Patent number: 4319799
Abstract: An electrical connector comprises mated plug and socket connectors. The plug connector comprises a connector body which houses a plurality of terminals having box-like contacts and hooks which project out of the terminal cavity openings at the mating end of the connector body. A lock plate having a pattern of holes corresponding to the cavity portion is attached to the mating end of the connector body to lock the terminals in the connector body as a group. The socket connector comprises a connector body having a socket which receives the mating end of the plug connector body. The socket connector has terminals which mate with the plug terminals and which are locked in the socket connector body by a comb.

  • Patent number: 4289924
Abstract: An injectable grommet assembly for passing a bundle of insulated electric wires through a bulkhead comprises a pair of assembled shells having complementary grommet and flange segments. The grommet segments form an annular seal chamber which surrounds the bundle of insulated electric wires. A wire clip disposed in this chamber spreads out the bundle of insulated wires so that sealant injected into the chamber also fills spaces between the insulated electric wires. The assembly also includes a gasket for sealing against the face of the bulkhead.

  • Patent number: 4199214
Abstract: A fused electrical connector of one-piece construction is attached to an electric cable having a conductor core and an insulation jacket. The connector has a ring-shaped contact portion at one end, a U-shaped frame portion having parallel legs attached to the contact portion and a transverse leg longitudinally spaced therefrom, and a crimp barrel projecting from the transverse leg which attaches the connector to the insulation jacket of the electric cable. The connector further includes a cantilevered fuse tongue integrally attached to the contact portion and projecting into the space defined by the U-shaped frame portion. The fuse tongue has a crimp barrel at its free end attaching the fuse tongue to the conductor core of the electric cable.

  • Patent number: 4186987
Abstract: An electrical socket connector is detachably connected to a post terminal having axially arranged multiple contacts which successively increase in size. The socket connector comprises a one-piece connector body having a plurality of longitudinal, vertically arranged, successively wider, cavities each containing an appropriately sized terminal and each having an appropriately sized longitudinal slot for the post terminal. The terminals are secured to lead wires and have forward contact portions comprising a pair of side rails which are connected by longitudinally spaced webs and which have inwardly displaced central portions between the webs which biasingly engage the post terminal contacts. The socket connector is sealed by a boot having flaps which close a rear assembly opening and a bottom wall passage which receives the post terminal. The socket connector also includes a connector lock for securing the socket connector to the post terminal.

  • Patent number: 4123131
Abstract: An electrical connector is matably attached to an oxygen sensor having a hollow center terminal for exposing the inner electrode of the oxygen sensor to ambient air. The electrical connector comprises a nylon connector body having radially spaced shrouds at a plug-in opening which receives the oxygen sensor terminal. A silicone rubber seal sleeve disposed in the outer shroud sealingly engages the inner shroud and the insulator sleeve of the oxygen sensor to environmentally protect the interface between the oxygen sensor terminal and the mating terminal carried by the connector body. The plug-in opening is vented via grooves in the shrouds. A retaining clip carried by the outer shroud forms a splash shield for the vent inlet. The connector body has an enlarged lead receiving opening which is sealed by a seal sleeve molded on th lead.

  • Patent number: 4066325
Abstract: An electrical connector for a printed circuit board or the like comprises a connector body having two rows of longitudinal terminal receiving cavities respectively disposed on opposite sides of a lateral slot. Each cavity has a forward longitudinal opening and a forward side rib. A terminal having a U-shaped forward end piloted on the side rib is individually retained in each cavity. A resilient cantilevered tongue portion of the terminal extends rearwardly from the U-shaped forward end and is disposed in the lateral slot. The connector body also has two rearward lateral slots. Lock plates are longitudinally slid into each rear slot to a retained position whereat each lock plate prevents withdrawal of all of the terminals in one of the rows.

  • Patent number: 3999095
Abstract: A lamp socket and bulb assembly includes a socket having a generally rectangularly configured bulb opening and first and second side contacts to stabilize a bulb base against multiplanar reference walls in the socket; and wherein the base includes bulb filament contacts, spaced apart parallel reference surfaces and a pressure pad thereon all axially insertable into the socket to make electrical contact between the first and second side contacts and the bulb filament contacts, having a segment that exerts a force on the pressure pad to locate the parallel reference surfaces against one side wall of the socket and a curvilinear segment that engages an outwardly directed tab on the base to stabilize the base within the bulb opening by exerting a pull-in force thereagainst.
