Patent number: 12259799Abstract: Disclosed are various embodiments for identifying fault injection impact zones. A test for an application can be received from a test service. An application schema can then be created that represents the systems or services that are involved in the execution of the application. Applications with a similar application schema are then identified using a first machine-learning model. A subset of the plurality of applications that have experienced a similar test are then identified with a second machine-learning model. Log files associated with each of the subset of applications are then analyzed to identify errors that occurred during the similar test. Each of the identified errors are then provided to the test service in response to receipt of the test.Type: GrantFiled: March 27, 2023Date of Patent: March 25, 2025Assignee: Amazon Technologies, Inc.Inventors: Adrian John Hornsby, Laura Wingert Thomson, Warren Robert Russell, Alan O'Leary, Serafin Antonio Sedano Arenas

Patent number: 11983100Abstract: Disclosed are various embodiments for automated testing of systems and applications. A first computing device may be in data communication with a second computing device. The first computing device can receive a fault instruction specifying receive a fault instruction specifying a fault to inject into a virtual compute instance, parameters for the fault, a duration of the fault, and an identifier of the virtual compute instance. The first computing device can then send a command to a second computing device that hosts the virtual compute instance, wherein the command specifies at least the fault, the parameters for the fault, and the virtual compute instance. In turn, the second computing device can receive the command from the first computing device, save a pre-fault state of the virtual compute instance, and then introduce the fault into the virtual compute instance.Type: GrantFiled: September 29, 2020Date of Patent: May 14, 2024Assignee: AMAZON TECHNOLOGIES, INC.Inventors: Roland Paterson-Jones, Warren Robert Russell

Patent number: 11301350Abstract: Disclosed are various embodiments for automated testing of systems and applications. A computing device can receive a command to execute a test, the test comprising at least one fault instruction and an alarm, the alarm being specified as an evaluation criterion for the test. The computing device can then send the fault instruction to a fault injection service. Next, the computing device can receive a message from a monitoring service, the message indicating that the alarm has been triggered subsequent to sending the fault instruction to the fault injection service. Subsequently, the computing device can determine that the test has failed based at least in part on the alarm being triggered. Finally, the computing device can send a failure notification to a predefined recipient in response to detecting that the alarm has been triggered.Type: GrantFiled: September 29, 2020Date of Patent: April 12, 2022Assignee: AMAZON TECHNOLOGIES, INC.Inventors: Jason Patrick Byrne, Kinshuk Pahare, Warren Robert Russell

Publication number: 20220100599Abstract: Disclosed are various embodiments for automated testing of systems and applications. A computing device can be configured to receive a fault instruction specifying a fault to inject into one or more service requests sent to a service, parameters for the fault, and a duration of the fault. The computing device can then instantiate a service proxy and send a command to the service proxy, wherein the command specifies at least the fault and the parameters for the fault. Next, the computing device can cause service requests sent to the service to be redirected through the service proxy. The service proxy can receive a service request and generate a response to the service request that contains the fault based at least in part on the parameters for the fault. The service proxy can then return the response to the service request.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 29, 2020Publication date: March 31, 2022Inventors: Mahmoud Ali Abuelela, Warren Robert Russell

Patent number: 10237655Abstract: The present invention provides a portable and compact battery-powered stereo speaker assembly that incorporates a DC to DC converter, which enables power from the internal stereo speaker assembly battery to charge an interconnected hand-held device, such as a smartphone, through a USB connection, thereby extending the time that the device can be used untethered from the AC power grid. A DC to DC converter enables the charging function can be implemented even if the speaker assembly is not connected to the AC power grid, and even if the battery of the stereo speaker assembly is not fully charged. The stereo speaker assembly also incorporates Bluetooth connectivity, a proprietary open wireless technology standard, developed by Ericsson in 1994, employing frequency-hopping spread spectrum radio transmissions in the ISM band from 2400-2480 MHz.Type: GrantFiled: March 27, 2017Date of Patent: March 19, 2019Assignee: ZAGG Amplified, Inc.Inventors: Warren Robert Osborn, Daniel Lester Hill

Publication number: 20140249936Abstract: A method and a digital locker system for providing digital locker services are described. Content offers come from external sources and locally hosted sources. Content offers from external sources are received and processed in a content offer processor along with catalog information. Content offers from locally hosted sources are retrieved and catalog information is generated accordingly. Both types of content offers are aggregated and prepared for storage in a content offer cache, which are then used for providing services, such as content query, to users. Content acquisition and playback requests from users are handled according to the provider of the requested content.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 3, 2012Publication date: September 4, 2014Applicant: THOMSON LICENSINGInventors: Stelian Markov, Praneeth Kongara, Warren Robert Vollinger, Samir M.
