  • Publication number: 20230374861
Abstract: The present disclosure is directed to a mud hammer mud hammer comprising: a piston barrel including at least one exhaust port configured to receive a single flow of drilling fluid including drilling mud; a piston positioned within the piston barrel and configured to move in a reciprocating motion operated by a first portion of the drilling fluid; a bypass tube disposed through the piston and in fluid communication with a drill bit; an adjustable valving set configured to divert a second portion of the drilling fluid into the bypass tube; and a wear sleeve positioned to prevent contact between the piston and the piston barrel; wherein the second portion of the drilling fluid diverted into the bypass tube is exhausted from the drill bit and the first portion of drilling fluid is exhausted from the piston barrel via the exhaust port, in a direction away from the drill bit.

  • Publication number: 20230296290
Abstract: The present disclosure relates to an enhanced thermal syphoning system, comprising a first well and a second well extending though a permeable geological layer, each well having: an inlet channel to introduce a fluid into the well and an inlet valve to control an inlet fluid flow rate into the inlet channel; an outlet channel to draw geologically heated fluid from the well and an outlet valve to control an outlet fluid flow rate from the outlet channel; and an opening in the inlet channel adjacent the permeable geological layer wherein fluid in the inlet channel of the first well and the inlet channel of the second well is communicated therebetween via the permeable geological layer, the fluid entering and exiting the inlet channels through the openings therein, such that each inlet and each outlet valve can be adjusted to vary a flow volume of the fluid between the first well and the second well to thereby control a temperature of the heated fluid drawn from each well.

  • Publication number: 20220372820
Abstract: A liquid hammer drill comprising: a housing; a drill bit at a leading end of said housing wherein said drill bit includes a trailing end and a leading end that defines a cutting portion; a piston member located inside said housing and having a trailing end, a leading end and an intermediate portion therebetween, said piston member being capable of movement between a first position and a second position at which it impacts the trailing end of the drill bit; a liquid circuit for delivering a liquid to the piston member to cause the piston member to oscillate between its first and second positions and transfer the liquid outside the housing via a liquid outlet; a sealing member for isolating the trailing end of the drill bit from the liquid circuit wherein, in use, the piston member impacts the trailing end of the drill bit in a liquid free environment.
