Abstract: The invention discloses a method for performing electronic transactions over a communications network. The communications network includes a user operable terminal (12), a remote electronic transaction processing system (16) and a product and/or service delivery means (14). The method includes the steps of requesting a desired product and/or service on the user operable terminal and validating the request at the remote electronic transaction processing system (16). The remote electronic transaction processing system (16) provides a first authorisation to the user operable terminal (12) from the remote electronic transaction processing system (16) and a second authorisation to the product and/or service delivery means (14). The desired product and/or service is then provided to the user from the product and/or service delivery means (14) when the user validates the first authorisation with the product and/or service delivery means (14).
