  • Patent number: 10621182
Abstract: There is provided a method that includes (a) receiving data from a data source, (b) attributing the data source in accordance with rules, thus yielding an attribute, (c) analyzing the data to identify a confounding characteristic in the data, (d) calculating a qualitative measure of the attribute, thus yielding a weighted attribute, (e) calculating a qualitative measure of the confounding characteristic, thus yielding a weighted confounding characteristic, (f) analyzing the weighted attribute and the weighted confounding characteristic, to produce a disposition, (g) filtering the data in accordance with the disposition, thus yielding extracted data, and (h) transmitting the extracted data to a downstream process. There is also provided a system that executes the method, and a storage device that contains instructions for controlling a processor to perform the method.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: September 3, 2015
Date of Patent: April 14, 2020
Assignee: THE DUN & BRADSTREET CORPORATION
Inventors: Anthony J. Scriffignano, Yiem Sunbhanich, Robin Fry Davies, Warwick Matthews
  • Patent number: 9489351
Abstract: There is provided a method that includes parsing a string of characters into its graphemes, and generating a pattern of characters that represents an abstraction of the graphemes. There is also provided a system that performs the method, and a storage device that contains instructions for controlling a processor to perform the method.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: March 14, 2014
Date of Patent: November 8, 2016
Assignee: THE DUN & BRADSTREET CORPORATION
Inventors: Anthony J. Scriffignano, Michael Klein, Sean Carolan, Warwick Matthews

  • Patent number: 9183223
Abstract: There is provided a method that includes (a) receiving data that describes a location, (b) extrapolating, from the data, an address associated with the location, (c) identifying a segment of a thoroughfare that includes the address, (d) defining a polygon that has a perimeter that encompasses a geographic region that is in a vicinity of the segment, (e) obtaining geo-coordinates of a point within the polygon, (f) identifying an address at the geo-coordinates, and (g) identifying an entity that is associated with the address at the geo-coordinates. There is also provided a system that performs the method, and a storage device that contains instructions that control a processor to perform the method.

  • Patent number: 7584188
Abstract: A method of searching and matching non-phonetic or ideogrammatic input data to stored data, including the steps of receiving input data comprising a search string having a plurality of elements, converting a subset of the elements into a set of terms, generating an optimized plurality of keys from the set of terms, retrieving stored data based on the optimized keys corresponding to most likely candidates for match, and selecting a best match from the plurality of candidates. At least some of the ideogrammatic elements form part of an ideogrammatic writing system. The method may also include dividing the search string into a plurality of overlapping sub-segments and identifying sub-segments having inferred semantic meaning as well as sub-segments having no semantic meaning in the ideogrammatic writing system, and using the various sub-segments to generate the optimized keys.
    Type: Grant

Date of Patent: September 1, 2009
    Assignee: Dun and Bradstreet
Inventors: Anthony Scriffignano, Kevin Nedd, Peihsin Shao, Simpeng Gan, Sarah Lu, Masayuki Okada, Mayako Kasai, Julian N. N. Prower, Nicholas Teoh, Jeremy Sy, Warwick Matthews
