  • Publication number: 20100282348
Abstract: A rotary flow divider, particularly for use in hydraulic circuits for applications such as dividing the output of a hydraulic pump between several differently (non-equally) loaded devices. Includes a central distributor which channels fluid from the pump to outlet ports, and an outer housing with a plurality of distribution ports (associated with different loaded devices). Repeated alignment and closure of outlet and distribution ports in a sequential type manner distributes fluid to the different devices. Such port alignment and closure is achieved by movement of the distributor and housing relative to each other in a rotational and/or linear manner, though an intermediary moving shutter device or sleeve may be used instead. Such an intermediary shutter device or sleeve may also be configured as a repositionable control sleeve to modify the nature of distribution of fluid when it is secured in different positions.

  • Patent number: 7712691
Abstract: A hogging, sometimes known as reducing, apparatus for reducing wood waste into hog fuel, though some embodiments may also be used for reducing other materials including demolition timber, demolition masonry, mild steel scrap (thin sections), soft metal scrap, recycled cans, recycled glass, recycled plastic, soft rocks, occasionally hard rocks, recycled roading and asphalt, old tyres, and certain green garden waste. The apparatus includes a drum (40) inclined to the horizontal and into which raw material can be fed at its upper end. Rotation of the drum (40) assists driving raw material towards reducing elements (45) positioned at an angle near its (40) lower end. Screening apertures (41) allow sufficiently comminuted material to pass therethrough for removal. Optional features include internal agitators (60) for improving processing and screening, assisted drying of raw material by motor exhaust (71), and initial pre-screening of foreign material.

  • Publication number: 20090045273
Abstract: A hogger and reducing apparatus and considers issues associated with fibrous other materials clogging screening apertures A paddle arrangement having an open framework rotates relative to the screening apertures provided on a drum. Either or both the paddle arrangement and drum may rotate, the resultant action increasing agitation of raw material (being reduced in size by a reducing means) in the vicinity of the screening apertures and also providing a wiping type effect to help clear material from within the apertures.

  • Publication number: 20090008491
Abstract: A replaceable tooth arrangement for use in grinding discs such as used in wood hoggers and comminuting equipment. A preferred tooth arrangement includes two end to end adjacent tip portions, or a tip portion end to end with a complementary base portion. The contacting faces of the portions are preferably tapered so that tightening together creates a resultant outward movement which tightens them against the walls of a retaining aperture in a disc or disc section. Alternatively or additionally a connection element interacts with a wedge keeper which causes a similar outward component in the keeper and tip portion, tightening them against the walls of a retaining aperture, as the connection element is tightened.

  • Patent number: 7469852
Abstract: The present invention relates to a disk section (1) for use in the construction of a grinding disk (10) such as may be used in wood hogging, chipping, or grinding apparatus. The disk section (1) is associated with a substantially wedge shaped retaining segment (30) which is positioned near the circumference of the assembled grinding disk(10), and preferentially overlaps at least part of two adjacent disk sections (1) thereon. The arrangement is such that tangential type impacts acting on a disk section (1) results in at least partial energy transmission to the retaining segment (30) and its connection (38, 39) to a hub (9).

  • Patent number: 7434754
Abstract: The present invention relates to the use of an agitator (10) positioned near the screen (4) of a hogger to increase turbulence in that region. The induced turbulence from the driven blades (15) of the agitator (10) reorients material contained within the hogger (1), thereby representing the material to the screen (4) and grinding disc (5) with potential improvements in both screening and comminuting efficiency.

  • Patent number: 7311126
Abstract: The present invention relates to a grapple (1) with cut-off saw (30) in which the motor (20) for driving the saw (30) is mounted inboard, and within the head portion (2) of the grapple. In a preferred embodiment drive from the motor (20) passes through a hollow pin (10) which also supports one of the jaws (4). The head portion (2) thereby acts as a housing for the motor (20) protecting it from impact.
