    Abstract: The present invention provides an information carrier which has flat surfaces, is excellent in beautiful appearance and permits beautiful necessary printing, and a production process which permits easy and inexpensive production of such an information carrier. An IC chip 1 and a coil 2 connected to the IC chip are embedded in a substrate 3 composed of a nonwoven fabric. The IC chip and the coil are held between two nonwoven fabrics produced according to a conventional production procedure. The laminate of the nonwoven fabrics is fed to a roller or a press and the two nonwoven fabrics are hot-pressed, whereby their mating surfaces are joined with or without an adhesive (including low-melting synthetic resin fiber) incorporated into the webs. After positioning of the coil in the thus obtained raw product of information carrier, the laminate of the nonwoven fabrics and cover sheets is cut to obtain an information carrier of predetermined shape and size.

    Abstract: A compact noncontact communication semiconductor device having a multidirectional or omnidirectional antenna and usable in a minuscule space to which the applications have conventionally been difficult is provided. The outer peripheral portion of a spherical IC 1 is covered with an insulating layer 4 having a thickness equal to or larger than the diameter of the IC 1, and antenna patterns 2 are formed on the surface of the insulating layer 4. The antenna patterns 2 can be configured either with a winding or by microprocessing using etching or laser beam, for example, for the conductive film formed on the surface of the insulating layer 4. The antenna patterns 2 and the circuit pattern formed on the surface of the IC 1 are interconnected via a through hole 5.

The substrate 3 of the information storage carrier is composed of a material obtained by infiltrating a resin 8 into a reinforcer 7 made of a sheet-like material deformable in the direction of the thickness. An IC module 1 and a coil 2 are embedded in indents 34 formed by compressing the reinforcer 7 in the direction of the thickness, to smoothen both right and reverse sides of the substrate 3. Cover sheets 4 and 5 are attached to the right and reverse sides, respectively, of the substrate 3 with a bonding layer 6 to obtain the required information storage carrier.

    Abstract: A non-contact IC card communication in which power consumption of a driver of a reader/writer is reduced and the size of a power supply circuit for operating the driver is made small. The driver has a low output impedance. A current detecting circuit including a detecting coil magnetically coupled with a transceiver coil of the reader/writer through a magnetic coiling element and a resistor detects a current which flows through the transceiver coil. A voltage drop to be detected is small and is approximately constant for a variation of the transceiver coil current. When data is read from an IC card, a load of the driver is changed. The driver drives the transceiver coil in a constant voltage fashion even if a current flowing through the transceiver coil changes due to the change in load. Input voltages of a rectifying/smoothing circuit and a regulator in the IC card become approximately constant. As a result, the amplitude of a high frequency output voltage of the driver can be made small.

    Abstract: An ultrasonic diagnostic system includes a probe composed of a group of transducers for transmitting and receiving an ultrasonic wave, a main system connected with the probe by a cable, a memory card, and a battery pack for supplying power. The ultrasonic diagnostic system further includes a data processing unit and a monitor which are provided separately from the above components. The probe and main system are prepared for each ultrasonic scanning mode. The data processing unit subjects the received signal data recorded in the memory card to sophisticated data processing which cannot be carried out by the main system thereby to display the processing result. An examiner can carry the probe, main system, memory card and the battery pack for supplying power instead of a stethoscope to acquires diagnosis data and can process a suspicious image in diagnosis at bedside or house call using the data processing unit thereby to implement precise diagnosis.

    Abstract: In a light spot position control system and method in which a control of the irradiation position of a light spot such as a focusing control, a jitter correction and/or a tracking control is made through a sampling control, a newly sampled error value is compared with a one-preceding sampled value. When a difference between both the values is within a range of a predetermined width, the newly sampled value is used as a new sample value as it is. When the difference exceeds the range of the predetermined width, a sum of the one-preceding sampled value and the predetermined width is used as a new sample value. Thereby, the influence of erroneous samples is reduced.

Reproduced signals of a plurality of pits arranged maintaining a distance on the track and wobbled toward the right or left in a servo signal region, are compared with each other to detect any abnormal condition in the tracking pits. When the abnormal condition is detected, the tracking signal that is sampled is not used, but instead the tracking signal sampled under the normal condition is continuously used to perform the tracking control.
