  • Patent number: 9126353
Abstract: This disclosure relates to pelletized polyolefin resins. More particularly, the disclosure relates to a process that allows for adjustment of certain desired properties of either the resin, such as modification of the bulk density of resin pellets, or adjustment of properties for the articles made from the resin, such as improved odor and taste properties, when used as a bottle cap, for example, or tailoring of the resin volatile or wax level, when used to make pipe, for example. This disclosure also relates to a system for making pelletized resins, such as mono-modal or multi-modal olefin polymer resins.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: November 3, 2010
Date of Patent: September 8, 2015
Assignee: INEOS OLEFINS & POLYMERS USA
Inventors: Waseem Rahim, Robert Sander, John Yanosik
  • Publication number: 20120205832
Abstract: The present invention relates to an improved process for compounding a polyolefin composition comprising providing feed components including one or more high molecular weight olefin polymer components and one or more low molecular weight polyolefin components. The high and low molecular weight components are then compounded together to create a molten homogeneous polyolefin mixture.

  • Publication number: 20110152474
Abstract: The invention relates to an improved process for manufacturing an olefin polymer composition, in particular polyethylene, that incorporates two elongated tubular closed loop reaction zones (or the so-called “slurry loop” polymerization reactors) and a solids-concentrator in between the two reaction zones, that is optimally controlled to achieve the desired reactor and downstream solid concentrations required to make a range of polymer compositions including “bimodal” polymers where between-reactor hydrogen separation is important.

  • Patent number: 4341474
Abstract: An extruder screw having a root, a helical primary flight on the root and a helical barrier flight on the root and forming with the primary flight a solids channel and a melt channel. The width of the solids channel gradually decreases and the width of the melt channel gradually increases along an upstream zone of the melting section. The width of the channels gradually changes in a downstream zone of the melting section but substantially less than in the upstream zone.
