    Abstract: Alkaloid reaction products obtainable in a process wherein alkaloids are reacted with an alkylating agent, preferably thiotepa, whereafter unreacted alkylating agent and other water-soluble compounds are removed from the reaction mixture by washing with water or a suitable aqueous solvent, whereafter the reaction mixture is subjected to a treatment with strong acid, preferably hydrogen chloride (HCl), to precipitate a water soluble salt of the reaction products. The precipitated reaction products comprise at least one quaternary alkaloid derivative and are suitable as drugs for prophylactic or therapeutic application, particularly in the treatment of immunological or metabolic dysfunctions, and cancer.

    Abstract: A method is disclosed for treating human patients suffering from illnesses, including AIDS, which compromise their ability to mount an effective immunological response.     Abstract: A method of diagnosing and for therapeutic treatment of tumors and of infectious diseases by administering effective amounts of cytostatic compositions of alkaloid compounds, their derivatives, salts of the alkaloid compounds, salts of said derivatives or mixtures thereof. The alkaloid component causes stimulation of the cellular defense mechanism, exhibits a great affinity for tumor cells with rapid accumulation in the tumor cells, interferes with cellular activity of tumor cells and cells attacked by virus and other antigens, and destroys malignant tumors and other antigen structures such as viruses, bacteria, fungal organisms. The alkaloid component can be unlabelled or labelled with radioactive isotopes. The compositions may contain materials which are fluorescent under U.V. light or compounds which absorb X-rays. In addition, the compositions can be used as an analgesic in the treatment of polyarthritis and as post-operative anti-inflammation reagent.
