  • Patent number: 7792012
Abstract: An information recording medium in which an access unit including basic data and extension data is recorded, so as to allow a decoder that decodes only basic data to process the access unit which includes the basic data and the extension data for the next generation. The information recording medium is an information recording medium on which a stream, having plural access units and including at least one of image and audio, is recorded, wherein: each of the access units has: a first packet which includes basic data; and a second packet which includes extension data related to the basic data; the basic data is data that is decodable in a completed state without requiring the extension data and the extension data is data for improving the quality of data generated from the basic data; and the stream includes information which indicates attributes of the first and second packet.

  • Publication number: 20100215343
Abstract: The recording medium 100 stores playlist information and a plurality of elementary streams. The playlist information includes a basic stream selection table and an extension stream selection table. The basic stream selection table shows elementary streams that are permitted to be played back in a monoscopic playback mode. The extension stream selection table shows elementary streams that are permitted to be played back only in a stereoscopic playback mode. The stream entry in the extension stream selection table indicates a packet identifier that is to be used by the playback device to perform demultiplexing when the playback device is in the stereoscopic playback mode and the corresponding stream number is set in the stream number register provided in the playback device.

  • Publication number: 20100215347
Abstract: A base-view video stream and a dependent-view video stream are recorded on a BD-ROM. The base-view video stream includes picture data constituting a base view of a stereoscopic image. The dependent-view video stream includes offset metadata and picture data constituting a dependent view of the stereoscopic image. The offset metadata includes an offset sequence that defines an offset control of a plane memory when a graphics to be overlaid with the picture data is played back in a one-plane offset mode.

  • Publication number: 20100208042
Abstract: A recording medium in which a left-view video stream and a right-view video stream are recorded in an interleaved transport stream file. The interleaved transport stream file is identified by a combination of (i) an equivalent identification number being equivalent with the file reference information and (ii) a file extension indicating that video streams are stored in the interleaved manner, the equivalent identification number. Among Extents that constitute the interleaved transport stream file, Extents constituting the left-view or right-view video stream are identified as a normal-format transport stream file by a combination of (i) the equivalent identification number being equivalent with the file reference information and (ii) a file extension indicating that video streams are stored in a normal manner.

  • Publication number: 20100195982
Abstract: On a BD-ROM, there is recorded is a digital stream into which video and audio streams are multiplexed. The video stream is composed of a plurality of pictures that together represent video. The graphics stream includes a PES packet storing state control information (ICS) and PES packets containing graphics data (ODSs). The graphics data constructs an interactive display. The state control information defines the control so as to change the states of buttons presented on the interactive display according to the reproduction proceeding and user operations. The ICS is attached with a PTS showing the display timing of a picture to be synchronized with the interactive display. The ODS is attached with a PTS showing the timing for decoding the graphics data. The timing shown in the ODS is prior to the display timing.

  • Patent number: 7764868
Abstract: Recorded on the recording medium (BD-ROM) is an AV stream that is obtained by multiplexing a video stream and one or more audio streams. MOVIE objects are scenarios showing playback procedures of video data described using playback device-oriented commands. In addition to the MOVIE objects, enhanced-mode scenarios (Java and WebPage objects) are also recorded on the recording medium. These enhanced-mode scenarios, each of which is described in the Java language or a markup language, show control procedures with respect to playback devices. The Java and WebPage objects are capable of taking over register setting values set by MOVIE objects, and extracting parts of video data played by MOVIE objects.

  • Patent number: 7756205
Abstract: A moving image encoding method of encoding a moving image while switching between variable-length encoding schemes. In this method, a continuous unit to be continuously reproduced is determined (S5201), a stream is generated by encoding the moving image without switching between variable-length encoding schemes in the continuous unit (S5202), and management information is generated that includes a first flag information indicating that a variable-length encoding scheme is fixed in the continuous unit (S5204, and S5205).

  • Patent number: 7702222
Abstract: A BD-ROM playback apparatus simultaneously executes playback of a title and execution of an application. The BD-ROM playback apparatus includes a playback control engine (32) for playing an AVClip belonging to one title, and a module manager (34) controlling branching between a plurality of titles, and a BD-J module (35) for executing at least one application. The BD-J module (35) includes a Java virtual machine (38) and an application manager (36). The application manager (36) interprets that the title execution is complete and performs a termination process [1] when no application is run or [2] when the main application has terminated. After execution of the termination process, the module manager (34) selects the next title such as a top menu title.

  • Patent number: 7680394
Abstract: An AV Clip generated by multiplexing video and graphics streams is recorded on a BD-ROM. The graphics stream is a sequence of PES packets. The PES packets include ODSs (Object Definition Segments) carrying graphics data and PCSs (Presentation Control Segments) carrying control information. A PCS indicates that graphics data in a preceding ODS in the arrangement is to be displayed at a predetermined time in a state of being overlaid on the video stream. The PCS and the preceding ODS belong to different DSs, and the graphics data in the preceding ODS may be non-referenced graphics data that is not referenced by a PCS which belongs to the same DS as the preceding ODS.
