Abstract: A head protection airbag apparatus includes an airbag that is folded and received in an upper edge of a window on an inside of a vehicle, an upper edge of which is attached and fixed to a body of the vehicle, and inflated and protruding downward from a storage region by an inflation gas flowed from an inflator to cover the inside of the window. The air bag includes an inflation shielding section that is arranged to cover the inside of the window upon completion of inflation and an overlap inflation section that is communicated with the inflation shielding section and arranged on an inside or an outside with respect to the vehicle of the inflation shielding section so that an inflation region of the overlap inflation section is overlapped with an inflation region of the inflation shielding section.

Abstract: In a head-protecting airbag device, an airbag includes an inflatable curtain portion that is deployable over an inboard side of a window and an overlap inflatable portion that overlaps with an inboard side of the inflatable curtain portion at airbag deployment. The overlap inflatable portion is so configured as to complete inflation after the inflatable curtain portion has completed inflation. The overlap inflatable portion is deployable into a generally rod shape extending at a slant relative to an up and down direction and a first end of the overlap inflatable portion communicates with the inflatable curtain portion at a vicinity of an upper edge of the inflatable curtain portion as inflated whereas a second end of the overlap inflatable portion is jointed to a lower edge of the inflatable curtain portion away from the first end in an up and down direction.

Abstract: The air bag is provided with a non-inflatable part, an inflatable part and a coupling part. The coupling part is made by providing a slit portion in a part of the non-inflatable part, and the coupling part and non-inflatable part are joined together continuously at a connecting end portion so as to form an integral structure. The slit portion is provided in a position immediately before a terminal end on the side of the connecting end portion with a curved section for scattering a load imparted to the connecting end portion. The slit portion is further provided at the terminal end on the side of the connecting end portion of the coupling part with a substantially circular hole-like section for scattering a load imparted to the connecting end portion.
