Abstract: A facsimile can be transmitted via both the internet and the public network. An image is read from an original document, and image data is generated. The image data is converted into facsimile data, and further corded into e-mail data. The e-mail data is transmitted as a facsimile along with a header via the internet. The header includes a title elected by a user. When a receiving party receives the facsimile via the internet, the receiving party can obtain the general contents of the facsimile and determine its urgency from the title.

When the reception unit receives a signal while print data is held in the memory unit, the data ejection unit purges the residual print data if a remaining capacity of the memory unit is found to be below a predetermined level.

The multifunction device includes signal identification means, storage means and transmitting means. The signal identification means identifies the call identity signal patterns for the plurality of call identity signals sent from a line exchange. The storage means stores a specific pattern from the plurality of call identity signals having a specific pattern designating the computer. The transmitting means transmits to the computer at least a part of the data following each call identity signal when a pattern of the call identity signal is identified as having the specific pattern by the signal identification means.

A recording data receiver receives recording data inputted from an information processing device. A memory includes a communication area for storing the communication data received by receiver and a recording area for storing the recording data received by the recording data receiver. An allocation controller changes an allocation proportion of the memory between the communication area and the recording area.

Abstract: In a device having both a facsimile function and a printing function, a priority can be given, for example, to a printer section to perform printing of print data in a common recording section precedent to fax data. In this case, recording of fax data applied to a recording section is rejected despite the fact that the fax data is applied to the recording section earlier than the print data. The fact that the priority has been set is indicated in a relevant portion of a display.

Abstract: A color facsimile apparatus for color-recording color image data received by facsimile communication onto a predetermined recording sheet.
