Abstract: A system and method for displaying data associated with an embedded system is provided that may include a vehicle data bus, an electronic control unit, and a display unit. The display unit may be configured to render a graphical user interface for the electronic control unit. Data may be exchanged between the electronic control unit and the display unit via the vehicle data bus in partial compliance with a virtual terminal protocol, where full compliance with the virtual terminal protocol requires that the graphical user interface rendered by the display unit be defined and controlled by the electronic control unit. Contrary to the requirement of full compliance with the virtual terminal protocol, the graphical user interface in the display unit may be defined and controlled by the display unit.

Abstract: The present invention discloses a method and system for providing user selectable loadable language blocks to at least one implement monitor and to a display for displaying information from at least one implement monitor, the system includes a first article of software programmed to generate a first language block, a second article of software programmed to facilitate, translation of the first language block to a second language block, and a set of instructions contained within the language server to transfer at least one of the language blocks to the at least one implement monitor.

Abstract: Apparatus whereby data processing units exchange information with each other through a common memory without delay caused by limiting access to the memory to one data processing unit at a time.The invention includes a pair of random access memories (RAMS); a first logic circuit controlled by one of the data processing units (DPU) and the address signals from both DPUs; first and second sets of gates controlled by the first logic circuit to allow one DPU access to one RAM while the other DPU has access to the other RAM; and a second logic circuit (or "handshake" circuitry) to coordinate operation of the DPUs so that each DPU has read/write access to one or the other of the RAMs at all times. In operation, one DPU has access to one RAM while the other DPU has access to the other RAM. At the appropriate time, as determined by the handshake logic circuitry, the DPU access is switched between RAMs.
