Publication number: 20240157274Abstract: A gas-liquid separator, adapted for separating liquid and gas in an ebullated bed reactor under operating conditions, is disclosed. The device may be used in the petroleum and chemical processing industries in catalytic reactions of hydrocarbonaceous feedstocks in the presence of hydrogen, at an elevated temperature and pressure, to separate gas and liquid from gas and liquid mixtures within the reactor. The device is generally vertically oriented and may be installed in the flow through pan of an ebullated bed reactor. The device comprises a transfer conduit for transferring a gas-liquid mixture stream from a lower section of an ebullated bed reactor to an upper section of the reactor, a vortex separation section having gas-rich and liquid-rich stream outlets, and a gas-rich stream outlet conduit located on top of and adjacent to the vortex separation section. The transfer conduit includes internal means to produce a spiral flow in the gas-liquid mixture, such as a helical or spiral insert.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 16, 2023Publication date: May 16, 2024Inventors: Steven Xuqi SONG, Blaine HOLMES, Wayne MUNSTERMAN, Tom BERRY, Xiaohui ZHANG, Deanne KELLY, Ali VAKIL, Ehsan ZAMAN, Marvin WEISS, Matthew D. Patent number: 11573161Abstract: A densitometer in the present disclosure comprises a measurement module that is calibrated to estimate sample fluid density with high accuracy and minimized sensitivity to temperature of tube and clamp components in the densitometer. The densitometer measures sample fluid density by vibrating the sample fluid and measuring the resonant frequency of the sample fluid, then estimating the sample fluid density based on this resonant frequency. The measurement module is calibrated specific to dissimilar tube and clamp materials. The tube and the clamp of the densitometer have materials are chosen to be cost-effective based on the specifications of the densitometer system and to have coefficients of thermal expansion (CTEs) which reduce temperature dependence of the resonant frequency of the sample fluid inside of the densitometer.Type: GrantFiled: May 27, 2020Date of Patent: February 7, 2023Assignee: Halliburton Energy Services, Inc.Inventors: Michel Joseph LeBlanc, Christopher Wayne Berry, Marcelo Felix Civarolo

Patent number: 11448497Abstract: An example system includes two objects each having a known dimension and positioned spaced apart by a known distance, and a fixture having an opening for receiving an imaging device and for holding the two objects in a field of view of the imaging device such that the field of view of the imaging device originates from a point normal to a surface of the base. The fixture holds the imaging device at a fixed distance from an object being imaged and controls an amount of incident light on the imaging device. An example method of determining image scaling includes holding an imaging device at a fixed distance from an object being imaged, and positioning the two objects in the field of view of the imaging device such that the field of view of the imaging device originates from a point normal to a line formed by the known distance.Type: GrantFiled: December 18, 2019Date of Patent: September 20, 2022Assignee: The Boeing CompanyInventors: Hong H. Patent number: 11227411Abstract: An example fixture includes a hollow elongate section having a first end and a second end, and the first end has an opening for receiving a lens portion of an imaging device and the second end is structurally configured to brace against a surface of an object being imaged. The hollow elongate section is configured to hold the lens portion of the imaging device at a fixed distance from an object being imaged and to control an amount of incident light on the lens portion. Example methods of configuring an imaging device for capturing images of an object include holding, via a fixture, a lens portion of an imaging device at a fixed distance from an object being imaged, controlling an amount of incident light on the lens portion of the imaging device, and holding a calibration object in a field of view of the imaging device.Type: GrantFiled: December 18, 2019Date of Patent: January 18, 2022Assignee: The Boeing CompanyInventors: Hong H.
