  • Publication number: 20230016887
Abstract: A cervical collar has an anterior component including a lower support that is adjustable in angle relative to a main support. The lower support is hingedly connected to the main support at first and second end portions. An elongate element engages the first and second end portions. A lock mechanism is operatively connected to the elongate element, and is arranged for locking rotation of the lower support relative to the main support, by moving the elongate element between locked and unlocked conditions. An upper support is received by the main support at least at a front section of the main support, and is arranged to be fitted against a user's chin.

  • Publication number: 20160296725
Abstract: An anti-shock system for a catheter line inserted in a patient's body. The system includes a spring structure, a base and cover forming a housing with a catheter line entry port and exit port, the spring structure disposed within the housing. A first portion of a catheter line is positioned within the housing, with a distal end portion extending out the exit port, and a body entrance portion extending from the entry port. The spring structure is operatively coupled to a loop of the line and configured to absorb a pulling force exerted on the distal end by a spring action on the loop, without transmitting the pulling force directly to the body entrance portion of the catheter line and thereby prevent undesired migration of the catheter line within the patient's body.

  • Publication number: 20160158054
Abstract: An embodiment of an adjustable cervical collar system includes a collar body and a chin support structure assembled together, about respective pivots at opposed ends, for pivotal movement about a pivot axis so that the angle subtended by the collar body and chin support structure can be adjusted. The collar body and chin support structure can be locked in a selected position by a locking mechanism. A release mechanism permits the wearer to release the locking mechanism using one hand, and the angular position of the chin support structure relative to the collar body is changed manually. When the release mechanism is released, the locking mechanism automatically locks the chin support in the new position. A neck strap is detachable from the chin support structure and the collar body, and its length is also adjustable.

  • Publication number: 20140121649
Abstract: A wound dressing assembly for a surgical tube or other device entrance into the body includes a cover layer, with adhesive on the outer perimeter of the underside of the cover layer to attach the wound dressing to the patient's body, an absorbent ring secured to the underside of the cover. An interior clear window allows the nurse or other medical personnel to view the wound site through the window for inspection for infection or bleeding. A port is formed in the window area to allow a tube or other device to pass through the wound dressing.

  • Patent number: 8216167
Abstract: An orthosis comprises a cervical portion that holds a head in place relative to a thoracic portion worn by a wearer. The orthosis has an intermediate portion disposed intermediate the cervical and thoracic portions. The orthosis also has a first adjustment region that provides at least 15° of relative movement between the cervical and intermediate portions, and a second adjustment region that provides at least 15° of relative movement between the thoracic and intermediate portions. First and second adjustment regions allow the orthosis to comfortably accommodate differently proportioned wearers, and each comprises one or more locking devices to prevent undesired movement of the cervical and thoracic portions relative to the intermediate portion.
